Bethenny Frankel leaves little to the imagination. The mom and mogul who became famous on reality TV is known for letting the public into her life. This week, she debuted her new FOX talk show produced by Ellen DeGeneres. The fun, zany and heartfelt chatfest is simply called "Bethenny."
Frankel is now speaking out about the recent miscarriage that she and her husband Jason Hoppy endured. The two have one daughter together named Bryn. They also work together for Bethenny's Skinny Girl empire, an issue that became a point of contention of her series, "Bethenny Ever After."
The 41-year-old former chef reveals that shortly after she found out that she was expecting a second child, she received terrible news.Bethenny had miscarried. She was already a high risk pregnancy as a mom over 40. Her first pregnancy had also been complicated.
Although Bethenny and Jason were not trying to get pregnant, they were extremely excited about the prospect of the new baby. The two are bicoastal with their main residence in New York City. Bethenny confesses, "I was still bleeding, and I was nauseated and uncomfortable, way worse than last time, I said to Jason. I felt seven months pregnant even though I was six weeks along. And because we hadn't planned this, I felt unprepared, like we had so much to do to get ready for this baby. Still, I was excited, if cautiously so, with the words high risk ringing in my ears."
Bethenny sadly blamed herself for the miscarriage. Luckily the doctor of the always on-the-go brunette was supportive. Frankel's doctor explained, "You're 41. You had bleeding. There's nothing you could have done." The talkative host eventually came to realize that she was not at fault.
The former "Real Housewives of New York City " star joins a growing list of women who speak frankly about their pregnancy issues. These voices help other women to heal from their own challenges surrounding miscarriages and fertility. Giuliana Rancic elevated herself from entertainment journalist to champion when she courageously shared first her fertility issues, then her breast cancer story and now her decision to enlist the services of a surrogate. Khloe Kardashian Odom has been open about how desperate she is to conceive a child with her husband and reality TV co-star, Lamar Odom. Songbird Mariah Carey and Beyonce also admit to dealing with miscarriages privately before having successful pregnancies.
Bethenny will continue to share and break new ground as the woman who "puts it all out there." We are sorry for her loss and look forward to seeing what the Skinny Girl does next!
