The Golden Globe Awards took place on January 13 and while many celebs were predicting that color was going to rule the red carpet, black dresses far outnumbered the others. There were an incredible amount of black gowns on the red carpet and while some were superb, others would have been better if they were left on a hanger. So out of all the celebs who strutted their stuff down the red carpet at the 2013 Golden Globes, who wore the best and worst black dresses?
Katharine McPhee
The "Smash" actress let it all hang out on the red carpet. She wore a black satin Thyskens Theory gown that had a plunging neckline and a dangerously high leg slit. The beauty completed her look with strappy heels, a metallic clutch, an updo and kohl rimmed eyes. It was definitely was one the best - and sexiest - looks of the evening.
Sofia Vergara
Rarely does the "Modern Family" star disappoint on the red carpet and her dress at the Golden Globes was no different. The star, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, looked sexy and sultry in a black strapless full-length gown that had a sweetheart neckline and sparkles from head-to-toe. She finished off her look with a straight hairstyle and a pop of red lipstick. The ensemble was the perfect choice for her and the event.
Sarah Hyland
There is a serious amount of style going on amongst the women from "Modern Family." The 22-year-old walked the red carpet in a black strapless Max Azria Atelier gown that had crystal embellished detailing around the waist and the entire look from her wavy hair down to her sky-high heels was sheer perfection. It was certainly a flawless look!
Giuliana Rancic
The E! host should have definitely went with a different gown for the Golden Globes. She wore a long black dress that had lace detailing at the bust and on the collar and instead of having her shoulders bare in what appeared to be a cold-shoulder dress, there was nude fabric in place instead. It was such a disappointing fashion pick.
Nicole Kidman
It's such a shame when a big star makes a bad fashion choice. She looked gorgeous from the neck up, but her black edgy Alexander McQueen gown just wasn't working for her. The dress consisted of a sheer mesh panel over the stomach and bronze studs at the neckline. It didn't suit her and it didn't help that her hair and makeup were styled with a softer, more feminine dress in mind. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture but lost out to Anne Hathaway.
Kate Hudson
The "Glee" star wore a black long-sleeve Alexander McQueen gown that had gold embellishments on the waist and a gold collar that partly surrounded the large keyhole neckline. Although the dress was fabulous, she made a mistake by wearing her hair down. Her flowing locks covered up the detailing by the neck so it would have been much better if she sported an updo instead.
Eva Longoria
The former "Desperate Housewives" star wore a black Emilio Pucci long-sleeve gown that consisted of a lace top with a large keyhole neckline and a thigh-high slit up the skirt that you couldn't help but miss. The dress seemed like it weighed a thousand pounds on her tiny 5-foot-2-inch frame and it wasn't one of her best looks at all. She completed the outfit with an updo, black satin heels and diamond stud earrings.
Sound off! Who wore your favorite black gown at the 2013 Golden Globes?
