The MTV Video Music Awards took place on September 6, and as far as fashion goes, it was pretty boring compared to past years. Usually there's at least one or two truly exciting ensembles out of the bunch, but this year, none particularly stood out for being overly incredible. However, there were a select few who thankfully brought some much needed style to the red carpet.
The best dressed award goes to T-Swizzle for her fabulous white J. Mendel silk suit. Normally clad in girly frocks or glam gowns, it was nice to see her switch things up with a chic pants suit. Her makeup was perfection with her bright red lips and kohl rimmed eyes and her sleek, straight hair was flawless. For the finishing touches, she opted for gold heels and drop earrings.
Complete with newly dyed raven-colored locks, the beauty walked the red carpet in a black Elie Saab 2004 gown that had teal and red floral embroidery from top-to-bottom. It had a leather bodice with a bow tied at the neckline and was sheer from the hips down. This is one of the gowns you have to look at for awhile before you realize how fabulous it is. On anyone else, it would probably get a big thumbs down, but she almost brings life to it and makes it red carpet worthy.
We love the actress from "The Vampire Diaries," but her red carpet looks usually make us wince a bit. However, she rocked it out at the VMAs in a silk maroon Jean Paul Gaultier suit that she wore with a leopard print bustier and brown booties. Her flowing wavy hair was lovely, but we could have done without the dark lipstick. Overall, definitely one of the best dressed at the event.
Decked out in a long-sleeve metallic gray Stella McCartney gown, the newest Cover Girl looked gorgeous. The dangerously high slit gave the gown an extra dose of sex appeal. She made the right choice by going simple with the finishing touches, opting for only dangling earrings, black pumps and a fabulous pompadour. Her smile looked extra radiant at the event and she seemed to be glowing from the inside out.
Who gets your vote for the best dressed at the 2012 MTV VMAs?
