HAVANA (AP) — Benicio del Toro says the artistic collaboration that went into his directorial debut in the movie "Seven Days in Havana" was so gratifying that he plans to keep working behind the camera.

The Puerto Rican actor says working with actors and others "motivates me to dream of trying it again."

"Seven Days" is made up of seven shorts that take place on different days of the week and show different visions of Cuban society.

Del Toro directed the first short: "The Yuma," Cuban slang for "The American."

It stars Josh Hutcherson and tells the story of a young American who travels to Havana for the city's annual film festival, where "Seven Days" has been screening this week.

Del Toro spoke Friday evening at a news conference in Havana.

I think Del Toro will be a great director because of his experience & ability as an actor & also because he is a perfectionist. The best of luck to him in his directorial debut but I hope he doesn't stop making movies because, he is the only actor who can truly act & make movies that are worthwhile seeing. I have seen & own all of his movies & I watch them over & over again. He is a natural born actor & the most handsome man I have ever seen. He is truly gifted & talented but unfortunately, the most under rated actor in Hollywood. Hopefully, he will gain the recognition he has truly earned & deserves. Thank you Mr. Del Toro for the many hours of enjoyment you have provided me over the years.
