"Bachelor" Sean Lowe and his fiancee, Catherine Giudici, have set a wedding date.
As they announced on Good Morning America, they will be married on January 26, 2014 in a live televised wedding that will air on ABC.
Sean himself also confirmed the good news. As he tweeted, "In case you didn't hear, I'm marrying my best friend @clmgiudici Jan 26th! Oh and it's going to be shot live on ABC so you're all invited."
Given the "Bachelor" franchise's inconsistent track record for producing long-lasting successful relationships, I was skeptical about whether or not they would be able to make it. But looking back, Sean and Catherine had a healthy courtship, and they seemed genuinely committed to making it work. Here's a look at what we love about their relationship.
Catherine Is a Down-To-Earth Girl
Catherine is not a high-maintenance girl. She was a tomboy in school, and she played football in sixth grade. She is the kind of girl who can catch fish with her bare hands, ride an elephant, and wouldn't be afraid to go outside without makeup.
Sean is a goofy fun-loving guy who likes to laugh and pull pranks. He and the down-to-earth Catherine are a great match because they can relax and be themselves around each other.
Sean Has Remained True To His Roots
Many "Bachelor" fans were skeptical when Sean signed up for "Dancing with the Stars." Given previous "Bachelors" like Jake Pavelka, we had to wonder if Sean would let the fame go to his head. But after his run on "DWTS," he assured fans that he was still the same small town boy from Dallas.
As an added bonus, we know Sean's not going to cheat. He spent the entire season shaking his booty with the gorgeous Peta Murgatroyd and wasn't even tempted.
Sean Survived An Awkward Hometown Date
During their hometown date, Catherine's mother was pretty skeptical about her daughter meeting a potential husband on a television show. Instead of giving her "blessing" like most parents on the hometown dates, she stoically responded, "we'll see what happens." Although her reservations were understandable, that couldn't have been easy for him to hear.
Meanwhile, Catherine's sisters seemed to be throwing her under the bus, talking about how she wasn't serious about the process, how she wouldn't be able to commit, and how she was "messy."
You know a relationship is meant to be if your potential fiance is able to handle your quirky relatives.
Sean's Dad Will Be The Perfect Father-In-Law
One of the highlights of Sean's "Bachelor" finale was the conversation Catherine had with Sean's dad, Jay. He talked about how they had been praying for Sean's future wife since he was born. Jay also talked about how he would be her biggest cheerleader and how he would love her like his own daughter.
Given Catherine's conflicted relationship with her own father, we couldn't help but root for her in the father-in-law department.
Are you looking forward to Sean and Catherine's wedding? What do you love most about their relationship?
