LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Shaha Mishaal Adham, the woman who was arrested and released in connection to the death of Mark Ruffalo's brother, Scott Ruffalo, was a client of the now-deceased hairdresser, an attorney for Adham told Access Hollywood.

"He was her hairdresser. They knew each for a year," attorney Ronald Richards told Access.

The connection between Scott Ruffalo, who died on Monday after being removed from life support, and Adham was previously unknown.

On Wednesday, police cleared Adham, 26, of any wrongdoing in Scott's death after she was arrested on Tuesday when she turned herself in to authorities.

Richards said he presented "physical and testimonial" evidence to detectives, which suggested the fatal gunshot wound to Ruffalo's head was self-inflicted.

In speaking with Access, Richards said Adham claims she was present when Ruffalo shot himself during a game of Russian Roulette. Adham also told Richards she had seen Ruffalo play the game before.

When asked if Adham called the police or 911 following the shooting, Richards said his client did not because "she was given bad advice from her boyfriend," but later called 911.

Mark Ruffalo, whose film credits include "Zodiac," "Just Like Heaven" and "13 Going On 30," issued a statement on Wednesday, thanking everyone for their support in the wake of his family's tragedy.

"Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband," a rep for the actor said in a statement released to Access Hollywood.
