Ashton Kutcher "Just Wants to Move on" from Demi Moore

Ashton Kutcher "Just Wants to Move on" from Demi Moore

The night of Jan. 23, Ashton Kutcher wasn't with estranged wife Demi Moore at the Beverly Hills home they once shared. As Moore, 49, collapsed and suffered convulsions after smoking an unnamed substance (according to a frantic 911 call placed by a friend), Kutcher was thousands of miles away in Sao Paolo, Brazil -- hanging out with model Alessandra Ambrosio at bar Numero.

PHOTOS: Ashton and Demi in happier times

And now that the Two and a Half Men star, 33, is back in Los Angeles (reports have placed his car near their home), it's unclear how much a role Kutcher will play in his estranged wife's recovery, sources tell the new Us Weekly, out now.

"He just wants to move on," a Kutcher friend tells Us. "He cares about Demi and would help if asked, but he's not part of her life anymore."

    PHOTOS: Demi's scary slimdown

Indeed, long before their November split (Kutcher cheated on her with Sara Leal, 22, in September), the Margin Call actress has been struggling with low self-esteem, an obsession with staying young and thin and acted out with partying and self-destructive behavior.

Kutcher even took a paternal role with her three daughters Rumer, Scout and Tellulah Willis, another source reveals.

VIDEO: Sara Leal opens up to Us

"For a while, Ashton was acting as the primary parent because Demi was so out of control," another source says.

I think it's unfortunate that when entertainers have meltdowns, it's so public with every sordid detail making headlines. There was a time when they just went on a "vacation" for a while, and recuperated if possible, and came back to try again without all the hoopla dragging them down.

As humans, and I use that term loosely, we do seem to love watching public figures be ripped apart. :(

why? a public meltdown for demi is the best thing imaginable. she needs to come out of the closet with her alcoholism and her drug addiction, and her anorexia and bulimia. what better way than how it is happening. finally the cat is out of the bag. she cant deny it now, even tho she certainly will try it all she can..that is the disease talking and manipulating..the sickness will be in full action...but she will die if she doesnt go to rehab for a long, long time..

@Melody: That was before everyone was a "celebrity". Now they post their meltdowns on the internet - anything for publicity, good or bad. I don't feel sorry for people who "tweet" their personal problems then whine about how they have no privacy. These people hire publicists to keep their name in the paper and don't seem to care what they say as long as people are reading about them. Demi Moore would rather people call her a drug addicted cougar than have them pay no attention to her at all. Same with Kutcher, he doesn't care what you think about him as long as his name is in the news.

I don't care who you are, how thin (skinny?) or how much cosmetic surgery you have had,
you are still going to get old and then you die. That's just the way it is. While none of us
particularly like getting older, we need to accept it and move on. At least Demi is not
hurting for money and should be still able to enjoy life, but alas not as a twenty-five year
old. A quote from Sunset Blvd. an old movie "There's nothing wrong with being fifty, unless
you're trying to look like thirty".

i have followed this story and i think it ironic she has said she puts her foot down on cheating but using drugs is ok i say wth
      • Gigi 3 months ago
I so agree with you. How about that she is a parent? She does drugs and god knows what else and she has the nerve to talk about his cheating. Why can't she just put her "foot down" and be a good mom!

Could it be possible that her drug use and "god knows what else" is a reaction to a series of events that she had no control of? Namely her husband, who had promised to be faithful and cherish her but instead, had publically humiliated her?

Andria, the relationship is over with them, BUT Demi is so fken hot and rich and she had a meltdown, it will take at least a year for her to sort it all out, I know what she is going through and it is so painful but after some soul searching she will recover and be a Movie star and a great women and a mother and will move on with her life and find the new Demi and love herself, I bet what she smoked was Salvia, I bet a million dollars on it

None of us can control growing older..but it is the way we LOOK at the older years that really makes a huge difference in either maturity or childishness. And no matter who one is nor how rich they are, drugs AIN'T the answer!

I think that Ashton should keep his distance and let Demi heal. She is already vulnerable. She has to come to grips that he wants to move on from their relationship. Demi has children and she needs to be their for them. It time for her to be an adult and stop trying to fight the inevitible.

Demi needs to grow up and act like a woman and get a real man. To blazes with trying to look and act much younger than her age. The problem with her self esteem is all her own doing. As my grandfather used to always say "hitch up your boot straps and get back on the horse"!

To sad she is having so much drama in her life. Not a good idea to marry a man who is about the same age as your daughter. Skin and bones ans stingy hair is not attractive. Be a beatifull 50 year old not a 50 year old mess
      • Ms Karen 3 months ago
Her marrying him isn't what caused her problems but is probably a symptom of her problems. She probably married him because she thought that would help her to stay young.
      • michel 3 months ago
thats the point you cannt stay forever young regardless of what age group you marry

She needs to take a cue from Jennifer Aniston and pursue a man her own age! At least Jen was smart enough to end things after John Mayer starting discussing their relationship over twitter!

No one knows what really happened. A few weeks ago, the tabloids were all about what a doush Ashton was. Now suddenly he supposedly acted like the "primary parent", stepping in for his misbehaving wife who was obsessed with her appearance. (This is preposterous because the kids all have a father, Bruce Willis, who seems quite grounded and responsible, and two of their daughters are in their 20s and on their own.)

All that anyone knows is that Ashton cheated and that after their split, Demi smoked something that sent her to the hospital. All the rest of this stuff are just rumors fed from Ashton's people or her people.

Marriages end, relationships end. Its not the end of the world. Demi is old enough and been around long enough to have more self-esteem to get her act together and move on. Hopefully she will seek professional help.

How can anyone blame him for not "being with her". Have you ever split up with someone? Things caused a split, and who knows what those things are? But they are split, and I'm sure regardless of the situation, the last thing he wants to do, or SHOULD want to do, is take care of her. That doesn't make him self-centered. It makes him a realistic, about to be divorced man. She will have to fix herself. No one can fix her. Certainly not her ex.

Demi seems to need psychological support. Her concept of reality appears skewed.

I feel sorry for Demi's and Bruce's daughters who have to go thru this media circus and who went thru this very public mismatch marriage.
