Ashlee Simpson-Wentz: Singer Changes Professional Name After Marriage

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ashlee Simpson is changing her name.

The newly married singer will now be known professionally as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and privately, simply as Ashlee Wentz, according to People.

"I think that that's something that a woman should do when they're marrying a man," Ashlee told People, the magazine which had an exclusive over her wedding photos. "It's a tradition that I think is a great tradition."

Ashlee may have admitted she's a traditional girl - at least when it comes to names - but her husband, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, said the decision was hers alone.

"These decisions with Ashlee and her name are all completely up to Ashlee," Pete said. "I want her to do these kinds of things the way she wants to do them."

Pete said he was thrilled though, especially thanks to the addition of her name on holiday greetings.

"I was like upgrade me! You know what I'm saying? The Wentz family, our Christmas card just got upgraded!" he said. "It feels insane. It feels unreal."

Ashlee married Pete in a ceremony held at the Simpson family home, earlier this month.

    Well its not like she is really all that famous for much, except getting busted out on SNL and having Jessica for an older sister. Its not like she's compromising her fame or anything. Now instead of being Jessica's baby sister, she's "that girl that married that guy in that one band..." HA!
