After dating for a year and a half, Ashlee Simpson and Vincent Piazza have ended their relationship.
The singer-turned-actress began dating Piazza, who plays Lucky Luciano on the series "Boardwalk Empire," in June 2011. Sources say the split is amicable, but that the long distance relationship eventually became too difficult to maintain. HBO recently renewed the Emmy-winning show for a fourth season, which would keep Piazza in New York for production. Simpson, meanwhile, is busy filming her upcoming movie "Pawn Star Chronicles" and is reportedly working on a fourth studio album.
Simpson (28) has a four-year-old son, Bronx Mowgli, with ex-husband Pete Wentz, 33. The couple wed at Ashlee's parents' home in May 2008; they separated in February 2011, and their divorce was final that November.
Ashlee and Vincent aren't the only stars going through a breakup this holiday season. Here's a look at which other celeb couples have recently called it quits.
Shia LaBeouf and Karolyn Pho
It looks like "Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf has broken up with his girlfriend of two years, Karolyn Pho. The 26-year-old actor was recently spotted in Los Angeles with a mystery blonde, fueling rumors of a split. LaBeouf has been filming the controversial Lars von Trier film "Nymphomaniac," for which he will reportedly engage in "real" sex scenes. We're guessing Karolyn didn't like the idea of sharing her man, even if it was just business.
Danica Patrick and Paul Hospenthal
NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, 30, filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, physical therapist Paul Hospenthal, 47. Patrick made the announcement on her Facebook page shortly before Thanksgiving, saying Hospenthal "has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward." The couple married in 2005 in Scottsdale, Arizona, and do not have any children.
Mayim Bialik and Michael Stone
"Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik announced she is separating from husband Michael Stone last week. The 36-year-old actress broke the news on her blog the day before Thanksgiving, saying she wanted to "beat the tabloids to it." The couple wed in 2003 and have two sons together, Miles, 9, and Frederick, 4. Bialik has been an outspoken advocate for "attachment parenting," a somewhat controversial style of child rearing, though she insists the lifestyle "played no role" in the breakup.
