Fans of 1980s action movies are in for a real treat. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone will co-star in "The Tomb." The movie finally unites the action icons by giving them substantial roles in the same movie for the first time. Though Arnold recently did a cameo in "The Expendables" we have never gotten to enjoy Rambo and the Terminator share the leading spotlight. This promises to be a huge success no matter how good or bad the movie is. This might be the greatest but it is hardly the first fun pairing of stars in an action film. Here is look at some of the most fun one-two acting punches in an action film.
Talk about a fun pairing of stars in an action film. The eccentric NBA star joined the B-movie icon in this cheesy film named for a basketball term. Van Damme is an anti-terrorist agent that enlists the colorfully coifed arms dealer played by Rodman to help him fight Mickey Rourke. It is anything but quality cinema but delivers on some unintentional laughs.
These two defined the buddy cop genre by appearing in four "Lethal Weapon" movies. They were so good that guys like Chris Rock and Joe Pesci hopped along for the ride. Gibson was the loose cannon cop while Glover was the family man hoping to retire. The formula worked like a charm and is still used in many movies today.
This was a forgettable action movie but it deserves its place in movie lore. The former wrestling champion formed a great team with Scott, best known for his character from the "American Pie" movies. There is a lot of Stiffler in this character as well but it works. The movie never takes itself seriously and that makes it fun to watch. The Governator also makes a cameo in this movie to add to the excitement.
Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze - "Point Break"
Unlike "The Rundown," this movie does take itself pretty seriously. Reeves moves on from "Bill and Ted" territory to play an undercover cop that takes up surfing to foil some bank robbers. "Dirty Dancing" alum Swayze is the head bad guy. He brings long, flowing blonde hair to help add to the enjoyment of the casual viewer. This movie isn't worthy of any awards but it is fun to watch.
Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage - "The Rock"
Once upon a time Nicolas Cage was known as a dramatic actor, even winning an Oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas." This Michael Bay directed flick marked his first big venture into action movies. His nerdy FBI character was matched by the Scottish veteran as an ex-Alcatraz inmate that can seemingly do anything. As far as action combos go you can't do much better than this one.Note: This was written by a Yahoo! contributor. Join the Yahoo! Contributor Network here to start publishing your own articles.
