    Aretha Franklin Calls Off Wedding

    Things were getting a little too fast on the freeway of love for Aretha Franklin and fiance William "Willie" Wickerson.

    Three weeks after announcing their engagement, the Queen of Soul, 69, announced Monday that she and her would-be third husband have called off their wedding.

    "Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly," Franklin told Us Weekly in a statement. "There will be no wedding at this time."

    The "Respect" singer told the press about their engagement on Jan. 2, with elaborate plans to tie the knot this summer in Miami Beach, a reception aboard a private yacht, and a potential dress by Donna Karen, Valentino or Vera Wang.

    " We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends," Franklin and Wickerson added in their Monday statement.

    Franklin was wed to Ted White from 1961-1969 and Glynn Turman from 1978-1984.

        Some people are so childish. It's easy to say ignorant things about blacks when you sit behind your computer but I doubt the same would be said in a black man or womans face. The reason I never say anything about white people is because I am too busy concentrating on my life and make everyday better for myself and my family.
