Republican actress Angie Harmon wants people to quit hating on unwed teen mom Bristol Palin.

"I don't care what anybody says, this person is still a young person," she says in a new interview with Fox News. "OK, she's got a big situation on her hands, but for anyone to sit there and make fun of her, or judge her, is just cruel and wrong."

Harmon says the 18-year-old Palin -- who welcomed son Tripp with then-fiance Levi Johnson, 19, on Dec. 27 -- "is in a position that any girl could be in: Is this guy marrying me because he loves me and wants to be with me?"

Palin and Johnson have since called off their engagement.

Nowadays, Harmon says, young marriages "don't last. So if everyone could just get off her and let her live her life and do it in a way that she thinks is best, I'm all for it. I really am. She has my support 100 percent. She's a sweetheart."

As mother of three, Harmon says, "I'm going to stand up for [young mothers] and support them in whatever they want to do."

She also applauds her fellow Republicans for treating Bristol and the Palin family with respect.

"I think one of the greatest things about the Republican party is the understanding," Harmon says. "We don't point fingers and we have class."

The comment by Harmon that "one of the greatest things about the Republican party is the understanding...[w]e don't point fingers and we have class" is one of the more absurd things I have ever heard. Pointing fingers, criticizing and demonizing "others" (immigrants, gays, non-Christians, intellectuals, etc.) is the way many Republicans raise money

I just want to know why was it okay to be all over Jamie Lynn for getting pregnant but Bristol is off limits? (Why is it a double standard?) I believe the republican party has been the one talking down about teenage pregnancy, also talking about abstinence but when it comes to one of their own they want to change their views.

Hey - I agre that we should not be judging/making fun of Bristol. All of us were 18 yr old girls once and we each had our own problems. But I DO feel that for a family who purports to be Christians, these people area ll a bit too irresponsible. Sarah needs to stay home and take care of her own baby(s) & Bristol needs to take some parenting classes. Or the babies will be the losers h

It is a shame that this country has lowered it's self to thinking that some way everyone is better than the next person. She is a young woman who is caught up in exposure due to her mother. My best shot is ...'guess what everyone..Your life isn't over yet and you have no idea what is coming at you!! So back up and back off and live your own life and let the next guy live

I agree with Harmon. We are not here to judge, only God can judge. I wonder how many people out there that are making fun of Palin or passing judgement in any way, has never been in a situation as this. How many of you have ghosts in your closets that you don't nor won't talk about? Probably most of you do.

This is goes to show you that whatever done in the dark will surely come to light. It was quite certain that Levi and Bristol never planned to marry this was just a cover up for the up coming baby. No, I am not saying parents have control over their kids 24/7 but in this instance especially since the Palins were in the spotlight Palin's home life should have been in better order.
