Amy Poehler wanted to make sure Ellen DeGeneres celebrated her birthday with a pop.

So on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday -- the same day talk show host turns 51 -- the SNL alum surprised her with bubble wrap.

"When I get a present, I usually like bubble wrap that it's wrapped in," Poehler explained. "I like to pop it, so I got you 250 feet of bubble wrap."

DeGeneres was grateful.

"It is really satisfying to pop them," she said.

Poehler joked that her son Archie -- whom she and husband Will Arnett welcomed in October -- was inside the bubble wrap.

"I just want to keep him safe," she deadpanned.

Said DeGeneres, "You should. You're a good mother. Cute as can be that little baby."

Ironically, Poehler said son Archie "was born on Saturday night.

"He's a really happy, sweet baby," she added. "I think it's because I did so much jumping around."
