American Idol alum Danny Gokey has gotten married, People reports.

Gokey wed model Leyicet Peralta on Sunday in Florida before 100 friends and family.

"We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together," the couple said in a statement. "We pray our gratitude grows more every day because there is so much for us to do now."

    Idol's Danny Gokey is engaged

This is the second marriage for Gokey, 31, who famously lost his wife, Sophia, a month before his Season 8 Idol audition in 2008 after heart surgery. He later established a children's foundation, Sophia's Heart, in her name. Gokey, who finished third on Idol, and Peralta, 25, asked their guests that all gifts be in the form of a donation to Sophia's Heart.

The pair got engaged last month.

I do not think that Gokey thought that he "famously" lost his first wife, more like tragically! Congrads to him and Peralta! So wonderful that he was able to find love again!

I really don't think any disrespect was intended, but I agree that *famously* was not the proper word to use. It was very NEWSWORTHY when Gokey shared news of that tragedy as he auditioned for IDOL..... But I also don't think it was his INTENTION to use it as a tool to gain fame and fortune.

He seems to be a pretty respectable, humble, likable guy. I wish him and his bride much happiness. He deserves it. Heck, for the most part - we all do.

How in the hell doe someone "Famously" lose a loved one? Joyce Eng are you mentally imbalanced or what? The correct word is "Tragically". Idiot.

so happy for him!! it was such a heart wrenching story, i'm glad he found happiness again.

all the negativity on here is ridiculous. this is a man, who lost his wife. he didn't "divorce her." she passed away. her family lost their daughter. it's nothing to joke about, make fun of, "yap" about. some people need to GROW UP.

WHen they said famously they meant because the IDOL powers that be kept yapping about it. Danny didn't. They used it to get people to watch and listen. Nothing unusual about that sadly.

he told his story, like many have done. maybe you haven't experienced the loss of a loved one, but it is life altering. he also started a foundation for children in honor of her, idol got its name out there and many children have benefited from it. you have no right to judge who "used their powers and yapped about it." i'm sure her family didn't think they were "yapping". so rude.
