"American Idol" star Kris Allen will soon be singing lullabies!
The winner of the eighth season of the hit singing competition announced that he is expecting his first child with his wife Katy. The news came a bit awkwardly as he Tweeted that he was involved in a car accident at the same time. He wrote, "Thank you Ford for equipping me with a care that kept my whole family and little one we have on the way safe."
He quickly followed up with the addition, "Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy".
Allen is due to hit the road for his "Out Alive" tour next week. He has assured plans that he will still be touring, but may be unable to play the guitar while his arm heals.
It seems every January the various "American Idol" alums start coming out of the shadows to start making some headlines just in time for the premiere of the new season. Here are a few of the Idol alums making news:
Fantasia Barrino: The winner of the third season of the reality romp landed herself in hot water earlier today over some comments she posted on her Instagram account over the weekend. She wrote, "I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD, KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT, THE church House.... Everybody Trying!!!!!!! Its a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some place, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! I'm not doing Nothing for you... My Life!!!!" The barrage got the internet audience up in arms and her PR folks running to put a positive spin on the rant which has been pulled from her site.
Carrie Underwood: The winner of the fourth season of the singing competition just sold the house she bought with the money from her big win in 2005. The country singer snagged $372,500 for the modest 3 bedroom and 3 1/2 bathroom home in Franklin, Tennessee. She is currently planning to build her dream home with husband Mike Fisher in the Nashville area.
Kelly Clarkson: The original "American Idol" spent the holidays celebrating her recent engagement. Last month, the singer announced that her then boyfriend, Brandon Blackstock, had popped the question on Twitter writing, "I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)" It will be the first marriage for Clarkson and the second for Blackstock, who is the stepson of Reba McEntire.
