    Amber Portwood Strikes Plea Deal, May Avoid Jail Time

    Amber Portwood is one step closer to freedom.

    The Teen Mom star was arrested and thrown in jail December 19 for allegedly violating her probation. Portwood remained behind bars until Friday, when she struck a deal requiring her to plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance and violating her probation.

    As part of the deal, TMZ reports the 21-year-old must also complete a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program. The case will be dismissed provided Portwood complies with the terms of the plea deal. Should the MTV star violate any of these conditions, she will immediately be sent to prison to begin serving a five-year sentence.

    Portwood is scheduled to attend a hearing February 6, where a judge will decide whether to approve the plea deal. Until then, Portwood -- mom to daughter Leah, 3 -- remains in custody.

      This girl is such a POOR excuse for a mother and I dont understand why CPS would still allow her to be a mother to that poor little girl!!

      I cant even begin to say that this is abuse by the court system plain and simple. I know that her hitting Gary was, very, very , very wrong but hasnt she paid? She has been getting harassed by her whole town, remember when they threatened to take her child away and she had to go through all that with CPS and then she gets a minor drug charge and minor probation violation and this is the sentence she gets? Come on that is VERY excessive. Child molesters get less then this. Amber has a mental illness and this is NOT the way to treat it. Shame on the Judge and shame on that whole law-enforcement and that whole #$%$ town. How very , very unkind they are treating her. Probation is not a cake walk, anyone could atagnoize her or make up lies about her and it seems to me they can do it very easily and have her thrown back into jail. Somone from a higher power needs to step in here!

        What is WRONG with you???????? Your calling the poor childs mother a pig! Maybe we should list all your mistakes and throw you in jail! She didnt do nothing that #$%$ bad for the sentence she got! I know if someone called my mama a pig...that would be IT. She has issues and for anyone to bash her is a piece of #$%$ Plain and simple.

      wow teen mom show has really made a mess of these girls...the show needs banned...they were a mess to begin with but wow; they arent going anywhere....the mug shot or what ever picture in this article really does focus on those fake false eyelashes.

        all the girls on that show are in their 20's, but it is called teen mom because they became mothers in their teens while they were in high school. Which is why she is 21 and has a 3 year old daughter and no high school diploma.
