Amanda Byne's week has been quite a roller coaster we're guessing. On Tuesday, the "Easy A" and "All That" star celebrated her 26th birthday. Maybe the party lasted a bit too long though, because early Friday morning the young actress was arrested in West Hollywood on suspicion of driving under the influence. TMZ broke the story early this morning, citing sources who say Bynes tried to pass a police car, but hit it instead, early Friday morning.
According to the same TMZ story, this is the second run-in the actress has had with L.A. cops in the last couple of months. Allegedly in March she was pulled over for talking on her cell phone while driving, and even bailed on the cop as he was writing the ticket. Reportedly she circled back to the police station at some point and signed the ticket though.
The arrest this morning probably comes as a shock to many of her fans. She got her start as a precocious kid actor, starring in two different series on Nickelodeon. Then she had a moderately successful film career, doing light comedies. She did threaten to quit the business With this arrest, Bynes joins a virtual cavalcade of young ladies in Tinseltown that have been busted for DUI.
Lindsay Lohan - If we were Amanda, we'd be thumbing through our Rolodex (people still use those right?) for LiLo's number. The "Mean Girls" star just recently cleared up the last remnants of her own legal troubles that started with a 2007 DUI arrest. Lindsay actually turns 26 herself this July, so maybe the two can bond over stories of youth gone awry in Tinseltown.
Paris Hilton - Maybe it's something about being 25 or 26 years old, young, pretty and in Hollywood that makes a DUI easier? In 2006, at the age of 25, Hilton was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Her blood-alcohol level was reportedly .08, which is the minimum threshold for a DUI in California. Paris claimed she'd had one drink, but was mostly just hungry when she was pulled over.
Michelle Rodriguez - The former star of ABC's "Lost" has been busted for DUI two times. Going all the way back to 2003, when she was arrested for a hit-and-run DUI, Rodriguez even spent the Christmas of 2007 for violating her probation from a 2005 arrest in Hawaii. She was wearing a device that monitors alcohol consumption and was caught three times while wearing it, and the judge ordered her to report to jail on Christmas Eve to serve her sentence.
