Freeman, 71 who suffered a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage after his car flipped over on a Mississippi highway on Sunday underwent surgery on Monday.
On Tuesday, his rep said he was "doing well," even chatting with family members who visited him.
The Dark Knight star exits the hospital a day after his business partner announced that the actor and his wife of 24 years, costumer Myrna Colley-Lee, "are involved in a divorce action."

Mississippi-based attorney Bill Luckett said "for legal and practical purposes, [Freeman and Colley-Lee] have been separated since December of 2007."
The couple met in 1976 when both were working off-Broadway.
