Mark Ruffalo's family have released a statement about the death of Scott Ruffalo, who
passed away late Monday, at age 39, from a gun shot wound to the head.
"
Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband," the statement read.
The family said the funeral service would be private.
Meanwhile, police have cleared 26-year-old suspect
Shaha Mishaal Adham after it was determined Tuesday that Scott's wound was self-inflicted, her attorney said. (A second "person of interest" has also been cleared.)
Attorney Ronald Richards told The Associated Press that he provided evidence proving that Adham did not shoot Scott Ruffalo early Dec. 1 and that she merely witnessed the hairdresser
playing a game of Russian Roulette.
"This was an accidental shooting by someone that plays with guns," Richards said.
Adham, a friend of Scott Ruffalo's, had gone to the hairdresser's condo to retrieve keys to her sport utility vehicle, then fled the scene.
"A series of wrong decisions, starting with her not staying at the scene of the shooting, caused an incredible chain reaction of stupidity and bad luck," Richards told the AP.
More details are to be released Wednesday.
The Ruffalo family has announced the creation of a fund in honor of Scott.
