Paula Abdul may not be returning to American Idol, but fans might still see her at the judges' table this season!

ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson told reporters the former Idol judge would be a welcome addition to Dancing With the Stars.

"Absolutely, I would love that," he said at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena Saturday when asked about the prospect of Abdul critiquing contestants alongside Carrie Ann Inaba Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

McPherson also said that they were "friends from way back" and that she sound "good" when he called her after the news broke that she was leaving Idol after eight seasons.

"I was shocked by that decision," he said. "We would love to have her on Dancing, as a contestant, participant or judge. I think she's a huge talent. I think there's a lot made of her in terms of who she is... There's a sensitivity and an emotion to her that balances out Idol, and we'd love to have a piece of that."

He added that Abdul has not yet inked a deal.

"We have no formal plans," he said. "I think all possibilities are open. Really, it will depend on where her head is at."

    oh you bet i would i love to watch DWTS and Paula, i feel would fit in there and yes i would watch her but no more of american idol until they get rid of kara and ryan they will break the show up watch and see

    I don't think she should be a dance participant as she has a huge dance background. I feel they should get people who aren't dancers to participate. It is great to see the better dancers, but those who don't dance don't stand a chance against a professional. That Melissa had a dance background and it showed. It needs to be fair to everyone.

    I adore Paula!! She's probably one of the nicest, most sincere people in the industry and she works hard. I saw her in concert back in her "younger" days and still think it was the best concert I've ever been to. Soooo much energy and entertainment. I don't understand you people who say you won't watch something if she's on it! REALLY??? I
