New York Yankees Alex Rodriguezs father-in-law tells Usmagazine.com that his family loves A-Rod and that the ballplayer has been good to his daughter, Cynthia.
"We love Alex, and we love our daughter, and it is what it is. If they are having marital problems, they're not reinventing the wheel. It happens. I hope they'll work it out," said John Scurtis when reached on Thursday.
The comments are in the wake of Usmagazine.com breaking that Alex, 32, was making late-night visits to Madonnas New York City apartment. On Wednesday, the
New York Daily News and
The New York Post reported the couple had split.
"He's been very good to my daughter, and he's been very good to us. I hope they work it out," the 68-year-old Miami resident said.
He declined to confirm the rumor that Cynthia, 34, had flown to Paris to be with
Lenny Kravitz. "I don't know where Cynthia is and if I did, I probably wouldn't tell you," he said.
The New York Post reported that Cynthia was spotted outside of Kravitz's Paris home as late as Tuesday. Kravitz has denied a role in A-Rod's marriage drama.
Scurtis did confirm that his son-in-law studies Kabbalah, Madonnas faith. His interest in the religion was first reported by the
New York Post"He's gotten involved in Kabbalah, which isn't something we understand. We don't really get that. My family's Greek Orthodox," he said.
