The Golden Globes are just days away and all of Hollywood is scurrying about to secure their finest fashions to get ready for the big night. There is plenty to look forward to when the show hits the air on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at 8 PM EST. From the red carpet fashions to the on-air mess-ups, we can hardly wait for the big night!
Here are the top reasons we are excited for the 2013 Annual Golden Globe Awards:
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey: Gone is caustic Ricky Gervais in his place are a duo of funny gals set to bring the laughs. Co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are set to make their debut as the award show's hosts for this year's big event. The girls are set to bring their own brand of sarcastic satire to the hosting duties in a much more likeable fashion.
Adele: The Grammy winner has been keeping a very low profile since welcoming her son last October. She will make her grand return to the red carpet for Sunday night's award show where she is nominated for the James Bond theme song "Skyfall."
Jodie Foster: The Oscar winner is set to class up the place when she steps on stage to accept the Cecil B DeMille award for lifetime achievement. Of her selection the Hollywood Foreign Press Association says, "Jodie is a multifaceted woman [who] has achieved immeasurable amounts of success and will continue to do so in her career."
A-List Presenters: Hollywood is set to send out their finest when it comes to handing out the 2013 Golden Globes. This year's presenters include George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Garner, Debra Messing, Jennifer Lopez, Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Wiig, Kerry Washington and more.
Arrivals Special: In the ultimate twist of cross-promotion, NBC will air a special "Golden Globe Arrivals Special" just before the actual awards start. On hand for the pre-show will be the entire "Today" show roster of Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales.
Miss Golden Globe: In a show of nepotism, Hollywood always garners the title of Miss or Mister Golden Globe to the offspring of a celebrity parent to help hand out the awards. This year's recipient is Francesca Eastwood, who is the daughter of Frances Fisher and Clint Eastwood. Of her selection the Globes spokesperson says, "She is a budding actress and a great addition as we celebrate the show's 70th anniversary!"
Red Carpet Mayhem: Since we are at the start of awards season, we can hope to see some of Hollywood's finest fashions make their debut on the red carpet. From fabulous dresses to amazing accessories, we can all see the latest and greatest fashion trends headed our way.
Awards Season Sneak Peak: While there are sure to be some surprises, the Golden Globes are an early indicator on how Hollywood is leaning when it comes to awards season. If one film or another starts to snag up more than their fair share of shiny statues, we can plan on seeing more of them as the Oscars make their approach.
