Gold medal swimmer Ryan Lochte is one of the definite stars of the 2012 Olympic Games, thanks to his prowess in the pool and cover boy looks. The 27-year-old swimmer's goofy personality has endeared him to young and old, but there's so much we still don't know about him.
Well, scratch that: Check out these four things we've dug up about the Olympic champ.
He's a Mama's Boy
Lochte, like his friend Michael Phelps, credits his mother with his success. Illeana "Ike" Lochte is perpetually at her son's side during his competition - and she get more worked up about the outcome than he does.
"…You work so hard to get your kids to fulfill their goals, and sometimes they don't realize it until they're older, and now he's realizing how much we've given up," she told NBC Miami earlier this year. However, she also thinks he's too laid back at times.
"Sometimes you want to kill him!" she joked to US Weekly. "Sometimes I just want to shake him and say, 'Do you get it?'"
He Doesn't Have a Girlfriend.. Or Does He?
Lochte doesn't have a girlfriend, according to his mom.
"He's too busy! He's so warmhearted that I don't think he'd want to have a relationship with somebody," she told US Weekly. It might be wishful thinking on her part: Lochte is rumored to be dating "Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta" star K. Michelle and Australian swimmer Blair Evans.
We don't know for sure, but we do know what Lochte likes his women to wear: White jeans and one of his button-down t-shirts.
He Just Loves Wearing a Grill
Several years ago it seemed like every rapper and rapper wannabe was sporting a grill. Looks like the super swimmer doesn't seem to be giving up on the trend. He's been sporting some bling on his teeth throughout the Olympics, but IOC officials were quick to let the prankster know that wearing his grill on the podium would prevent him from receiving his medal. You have to admit, his American flag grill is pretty impressive.
And just who made that grill? Rapper Paul Wall. The rapper spends much of his time creating the custom grills these days - and he told ESPN that Lochte is helping the mouth accessory come back into style.
"He is putting the spotlight back on it," Wall said.
Let's hope that's not the case.
He Wants to Get Into Fashion
Swimming might be Lochte's first love, but in his off time he's all about fashion.
"I want to be different, and fashion gives me that outlet to do that," he told the New York Times. His favorite designers include Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger. The superstar already has some street cred in this department since he designed his own shoe line with Nike.
