The 2012 Nice List - Celebrities Who Deserve Good Things from Santa This Year

    Actor Christian Bale.

How does a star wind up on Santa's naughty or nice list? Only the jolly old elf can answer that question. But we think these stars are deserving of consideration for the list of nice little boys and girls. In 2012, these celebs showed a heart of gold and a spirit if giving that surely Kris Kringle himself would applaud.

George Lucas - Though fans of his iconic "Star Wars" film franchise had taken to seeing him more as an evil emperor than a wise Jedi, Lucas assured his spot on the good list this year when he announced that a substantial portion of his take from the sale of the movie series' rights to Disney would be donated to education. Lucas sold his greatest achievement in film for a cool $4 billion. Donating even 10 percent of that sum would be a windfall for the educational system, but reports are that it'll be a much, much larger cut than that. The Force is truly strong with this one.

Charlie Sheen - There is little doubt that last year Sheen would have been on Santa's naughty list. His public meltdown, problems with alcohol and drugs, and spat with "Two and A Half Men" creator Chuck Lorre all contributed to his rough year. But it seems like 2012 may have been a turning point for the actor. Just a few weeks ago, Sheen tried to help out Lindsay Lohan by giving her $100,000 to pay for her IRS tax debt. Unfortunately, Lohan still wound up having her accounts frozen, but Sheen's generosity and attempt to help a friend is still very commendable.

Christian Bale - The country won't soon forget this summer's mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado, at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises." In the wake of the terrible tragedy, Bale showed up at the hospital where many of the victims were being treated, unannounced. The star spent time with several doctors, nurses and many of the victims, taking pictures and signing autographs for them. It was a heart-warming moment, considering Bale's heroic role as Batman.
