On September 4, 2012, stars flooded into the Royal Opera House for the 2012 GQ Men of the Year Awards and to pay homage to some of the most fabulous men in the entertainment industry. Some of the guys to walk away with awards include Chris Hemsworth for International Breakthrough, Michael Fassbender for Actor of the Year and Sacha Baron Cohen for Comedian of the Year. Lana Del Ray won for Woman of the Year. As with all award shows, fashion is one of the main highlights. This particular awards ceremony, while still formal, is a bit relaxed when it comes to ensembles. While some ladies shined on the red carpet, others faltered with their fashion picks. So who were the best and worst dressed ladies at the 2012 GQ Men of the Year Awards?
Thank goodness for the newly blonde "Mad Men" star who added some bright color amongst a sea of drab black dresses. She wore a coral one-shoulder gown that had a thigh-high slit which showed off her fit stems. Opting for complementary gold tones, she accessorized with dangling earrings, a gold cuff and gold shoes.
The stunning Welsh mezzo-soprano looked beautiful in her black Stella McCartney halter gown. While most black red carpet gowns cause us to yawn uncontrollably, the rich velvet paneling in the back and the side cutout detailing caused us to take notice. She certainly was one of the best dressed ladies of the evening.
Alison was yet another "Mad Men" actress who added some much needed color to the red carpet. The 29-year-old wore a red knee-length Zac Posen halter dress with matching red lipstick. Her hair was down in soft waves and she accessorized with a black clutch and black peep-toe heels.
The Australian actress and singer is beautiful, but her ensemble at the GQ Men of the Year Awards wasn't particularly flattering. She wore a lilac Alberta Ferretti jumpsuit that did not fit her well at all. It was too large on top, the pants were too long and the satin sash around her middle didn't even do anything to accentuate her fabulous figure. She should have made a stop at the tailor before stepping out for the event. On her arm for the evening was her fiance, Nick Candy. The two got engaged back in December on a beach in Mauritius.
The award for worst dressed at the event goes to the Italian reality star. She wore a hideous short black dress that was sheer on top except for gold embellishments that barely covered her breasts. Our eyes are hurting just from looking at the photo. A wild updo, huge round earrings and sky-high black heels finished off whatever type of look it was that she was going for.
Who do you think were the best and worst dressed ladies on the red carpet at the 2012 GQ Men of the Year Awards?
