The music business is a fickle one - the hot acts of today can be yesterday's news in the blink of an eye. There's no greater proof of that then looking back at the big winners of past Grammy Awards.
In honor of the 2013 Awards, we looked back two decades to see who the big stars were back at the 1993 Grammy Awards. Some names you'll recognize, others you'll wonder what happened.
Boyz II Men
Boyz II Men were riding high back in the '90s with songs like "Water Runs Dry" and "I'll Make Love to You." They were at the top of their game at the 1993 Grammy Awards when they won the Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy for "End of the Road."
These days? The Boyz are still going strong. Next up: A tour with the New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees.
Singer/songwriter k.d. lang really broke out at the 1993 Grammy Awards with her haunting hit "Constant Craving." The song earned her four Grammy nominations in 1993 - Best Female Vocal Song Performance, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year."
She walked away with the Best Female Vocal Song Performance Grammy.
These days? The outspoken activist singer is still making music and living in Portland, Oregon.
All you have to go is say "Oh, my god, Becky - look at her butt," and most people will know you're quoting lyrics from Sir-Mix-a-Lot's 1992 smash "Baby Got Back." The song even earned him a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1993 Grammys.
The rapper - real name Anthony Ray - is pretty much considered a one-hit wonder, but he still releases an album from time-to-time. The most recent: Dun 4got About Mix was supposed to be released in 2011, but we're still waiting for an actual release date.
Eric Clapton's music career has spanned nearly five decades, but 1993 was a highlight in his already-illustrious career with his MTV: Unplugged album. The "Layla" singer picked up six Grammys during the show, including Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal and Song of the Year for his tearful ballad, "Tears in Heaven."
Who do you think will be the big winner at the 2013 Grammy Awards?
