Madonna Closer To Having Adoption Of David Finalized

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Madonna is closer to having her adoption of son David Banda finalized, Reuters' Africa bureau reported.

The Malawi High Court received a recommendation from the country's government, that they approve her adoption, according to the news agency.

According to Reuters, the government said the "4 Minutes To Save The World" singer and her film director husband, Guy Ritchie, were acceptable parents for the boy, in a confidential report.

"In the best interest of the child, I do recommend the petitioners to your Lordship for your consideration that they be granted an adoption order having proved that they are suitable parents and satisfied the conditions in the Interim Adoption Order," a report, signed by Probation Officer S. Chisale, read.

Meanwhile, Madonna recently asked for an extension to appear in front of the court for an adoption hearing because of promotional obligations.

David has been living with Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, since 2006, when the pop star began adoption proceedings.

In a cover story last month in Interview magazine, Madonna said David survived thanks to her intervention.

"I promise you, he wouldn't have lived if I hadn't taken him," she told the magazine. "It's not even a possibility."

    I am not a fan of Madonna as an intertainer,but I think it is great than she has taken this child into her home. And that she and her husband have had him for awhile and they want to adopt him. They have fallen in love with this child and want him to be their son. I don't think she is trying to copy anyone! My prayers are with you, Madonna.--------

    Can’t believe that Mr. Madonna is such a sap and puts up with this pseudo altruistic neurosis. Well, I am sure Madonna will put all the love and care that money can rent into this kid. In comparison to fellow collector Angelina I would say that Angelina would win hands down on the issue ‘being a good [enough] mother outside the watchful eye of the media’.

    Madonna may be the Devil (like one commenter avidly put it) but she's doing that kid a huge favor. I'm from Malawi and I know what life that kid might have gone through. Believe me, it's not pretty. ps. And whats wrong in trying to be like Angellina Jolie?
