Jessica Simpson Goes Retro; Admits Admiration For Scarlett Johansson

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A few months ago, Lindsay Lohan recreated a Marilyn Monroe pose for the cover of New York magazine, and now Jessica Simpson has a similar new shoot.

For the cover celebrating 75 years of Esquire magazine, the publication got a sexy Jessica Simpson to mimic a March 1965 cover shot of Italian actress Yvette Mimieux shaving her face.

With tousled blonde curls and heavy '60s eye make-up, Jessica looks seductively into the camera while holding a men's razor to her covered-in-shaving-foam face.

And inside the magazine, though Jessica takes on some sultry poses in lingerie, she offers a very grown up impression of herself. For starters, she admits to a fondness for the talents of Scarlett Johansson.

"I really respect her, and I think she's an unbelievable talent at a young age," 27-year-old Jessica told Esquire. "Unbelievably beautiful. Plus, she gets to work with the best of the best."

Though her film pedigree includes a stint as sexy cowgirl, Daisy Duke, Jessica told the magazine she would love nothing more than a serious film career, a la Scarlett.

"Um, I hope so. I hope so, one day. I'm not a person who gives up, so I'll fight it to the end," she said.

Before that happens though, expect to hear from her on the recording end. Jessica is currently at work on a new album and she is dropping her pop ballads in favor of more revealing country numbers.

"I've come to realize that the more I censor myself, the less people relate to me," she said. "I went through a period in my life where I kept to myself, this last year-and-a-half. And this is the first time, as I'm making my country album right now, I've had to just lay it all out there and go to that place where I'm comfortable saying, 'Here's my world, come back in.' I've tried to fit in other shoes, and it just doesn't work out."
