LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The new promo spot for the MTV "Video Music Awards" featuring Britney Spears and the show's host, British comedian Russell Brand, has been unveiled.

Britney and Russell reference the singer's 2007 "VMA" performance via an elephant in the room, which the duo make no reference to. The pachyderm performs tricks in the background as Britney and Russell joke about his less-than-household-name-in-America, status.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Britney Spears is heading back to MTV's "Video Music Awards," Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The pop singer, who made headlines last year after a rough performance of "Gimme More" opened the show, filmed a cameo for the 2008 "VMA" promos, Tuesday in Los Angeles.
