Heidi Montag On The Record: Did She Spread 'Hills' Sex Tape Rumor?

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 17, 2007) -- It's amazing what one little rumor can do.

The sex tape rumor surrounding Lauren Conrad & Jason Wahler - along with did-they-or-didn't-they-leak-it couple Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag - has helped make "The Hills" the most watched show on MTV.

So, is Heidi guilty of spreading a sex tape rumor about Lauren and Jason? Heidi's Web site certainly seemed to hint as much. But things aren't always what they appear.

Just hours after the headline "Me And Spencer Did Spread The False Rumors About Lauren's Sex Tape," appeared on Heidi's Blog, Access Hollywood's Maria Menounos went straight to the source to set the record straight with Heidi.

"Someone went through a lot of effort to hack my Web site and Spencer's, but I have no idea why," Heidi revealed. "We have hired a Web guy to find out who did it and where the source is, so we will get to the bottom of this."

At the center of the cyberspace scandal is the mystery of who spread rumors earlier this year about an alleged sex tape starring Heidi's "Hills" nemesis, Lauren, and her then-boyfriend, Jason.

"There was information on there that proved you and Spencer had done this sex tape scandal," Maria said.

"I know, it's so silly," Heidi replied.

Maria caught up with the girl "Hills" fans love to hate in the unlikeliest of places - inside a Taco Bell. But it wasn't a fast food craving that brought her there. It was actually a very worthy cause.

Spencer and Heidi have teamed up with Taco Bell for the World Hunger Relief Event, an effort to raise awareness of global hunger. The "Hills" couple served up Taco Bell fare to LA-area customers during lunch hour, encouraging others to help alleviate world hunger.

"Taco Bell approached us with this hunger reality check and asked us if we could help out," Spencer said. "We're honored to be included in the fight against hunger and be a part of the $10,000 donation to World Food Programme."

Following the fund-raising event, and with the Blog brouhaha behind them, it was time for Heidi to finally answer the accusations that she and Spencer were behind the sex tape rumors in the first place.

"So everyone wants to know, did you guys do it?" Maria asked.

    Dude, why did they do it? I can't believe they would lie 2 the press. THERE IS NO SEX TAPE! If there was then why dont they show it all over the internet for proof????? If they wont do that then there is proof that there is not sex tape.

    ok HEIDI AND SPENCER ARE SOO F!UCKING guilty of it all...just because heidi is jealous of lauren & that lauren has a life and she doent heidi shouldnt go around and say crap like that about her. maybe HEIDI didnt do anything but SPENCER did and she didnt do anything but that doesnt make her innocent! and spencer was jealous because brody liked lauren more than he liked him! get over it.

    Who gives a %@!*# who spread the rumors! I cant stand Lauren anyways who tries to pretend she is not all that...if Heidi spread those rumors than..go Heidi!...Lauren is an idiot anyways for letting it get ot her. Brody is very cute but way too narcosistic! It 's sad cause everoyne on that show is somewhat under 22 but they all look like they are 30 ! God know what they'll look like when 40 hits!

    I honestly think that every comment on every website that is Team Heidi must be written by Heidi or Spencer. Notice how in each case where she is asked "did you and spencer spread the rumor", she responds: "no, I did not". Um...Heidi, we did not ask if YOU did, but we asked if YOU AND SPENCER DID!! "No, I didn't".
