  • The girl with the dragon tattoo is getting ready to play with fire in the U.S.

Despite the weak box-office performance of the U.S. remake of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" so far, the sequel, "The Girl Who Played With Fire," is moving forward, a Sony spokesperson has confirmed to TheWrap.

Steven Zaillian, who also wrote and executive produced "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," is writing the screenplay for the next U.S. film based on Swedish author Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" series.

Stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are contractually obligated for the two sequels.

While David Fincher has not signed on for "Fire," the Sony representative said the company wants him to direct the sequel. • Photo by Jeff Vespa/WireImageGeorge Clooney was showered with three Golden Globe nominations: two for his roles as a family man in "The Descendants" and as a married politician in "The Ides of March" and another for directing "Ides." But in real life, the actor is a confirmed bachelor.

The 50-year-old told Esquire magazine that "I don't talk about (marriage) because I don't think about it." Clooney may be the only one who doesn't wonder about his romantic intentions. Searches on Yahoo! for "George Clooney engaged" (he's not) are a perennial lookup.

The star pointed out to the magazine that he's already been married. (His union with actress Talia Balsam lasted from 1989 to 1993.) "People forget that I was married. I love that," Clooney said.

Currently the Oscar winnner is dating former pro wrestler Stacy Keibler. It is rumored that his split from Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis came from pressure she put on him to tie the knot.

Still, that doesn't mean Clooney isn't capable of puppy love -- literally. The

  • What’s ‘The Artist’ All About?

The Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday morning and "The Artist" scored more nods than any other film.

The acclaimed but little-seen movie has grossed less than $1 million in the United States. But now, with nominations for best supporting actress, actor, director, score, screenplay, and motion picture (musical or comedy), the limited release is poised to play with the big boys at the box office.

So, for those who are just hearing about "The Artist," what's it all about? The film is largely silent (wait, don't stop reading!) and takes place in Hollywood in the 1920s. It focuses on George Valentin (played by Jean Dujardin), a star of silent movies who suffers an epic downfall with the advent of spoken films ("talkies"). Bérénice Bejo plays his admirer and protégée, whose star ascends as George's declines. Hollywood veterans John Goodman, James Cromwell, and Penelope Ann Miller also have supporting roles.

Critics' reviews are, across the board, positive. Owen Gleiberman of

Sony Pictures ClassicsShortly after the Golden Globe nominations were announced Thursday morning, Best Supporting Actor nominee Viggo Mortensen talked exclusively to Yahoo! The actor, who played Sigmund Freud in David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method" opposite Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley shared he reaction to the good news: "I just heard a little while ago from a friend of mine. It's a welcome surprise because the movie's only in a few theaters. And it hasn't gotten any attention at all this fall in that regard."

[ Photos: The nominees in Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture ]

As for his co-star Keira Knightley, Mortensen was equally surprised she wasn't recognized with a nomination. "With ten nominees — comedy and drama— I thought for sure she'd get in there."

"And [director] David [Cronenberg] as well. He's almost always overlooked in America, though not in his native Canada. He's recognized as a talented director that makes movies, and then

Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images. The original Material Girl has snapped up a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.

Madonna was nominated for "Masterpiece," a midtempo pop ballad she performed and co-wrote for her directorial debut, "W.E.," about royal rebel Wallis Simpson.

"I'm super excited. I think that the score is a beautiful and very important part of the film, and I love [composer] Abel Korzeniowski's work," Madonna told Yahoo! exclusively. Madonna said the song, which she co-wrote with Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry, describes Wallis Simpson.

"It's about a woman who has fallen in love with this untouchable thing, this man that was raised to be king," Madonna told Yahoo! "One of the lines of the song 'it must be so hard to always be the chosen one.' At the end of the day nothing is indestructible, no matter how high you might rise in the world you are still a human being."

It's a return of sorts for the singer turned actress turned director, who previously won a Globe in 1997 for best leading actress in a

  • The Golden Globes love them some Angelina Jolie, nominating her writing-directing debut "In the Land of Blood and Honey" for a best foreign film. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is not known for being impartial -- last year it nominated Jolie and co-star Johnny Depp for the universally despised "The Tourist" -- and both attended the dinner. While it was a bit of a surprise that "In The Land of Blood and Honey" was included since it had not received any early awards love, this was the rare case where the HFPA recognized a difficult movie -- a love story in war-torn Bosnia -- and gave it the honor it deserves.

Still, it's no secret that the HFPA loves power A-list couple Jolie and Brad Pitt, whose "Moneyball" received four awards for best picture/drama, best screenplay, best actor Pitt, and best supporting actor Jonah Hill. Jolie and Pitt are past winners: Together the two have received four Golden Globes in the past, and have been nominated six additional times. So, will the

  • The Golden Globes TV nominations are always good for a few surprises, but the Hollywood Foreign Press threw more curveballs than usual at us this morning. (Are they watching the same TV we are?) Network executives must be fuming, since cable dominated the major categories, with a number of lightly regarded cable series shoving network favorites out of the nominee pool. Read on to find out who's in and who's out on the TV side of this year's Globes.

    In: "Boss"
Kelsey Grammer has won raves for his dark portrayal of Chicago mayor Tom Kane on Starz's "Boss," and the Golden Globes love big names, so his nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series isn't a shocker. But the series itself landed a nod for best drama despite so-so reviews, knocking out critical favorites like "The Good Wife" and "Friday Night Lights." Are we sure Kane and his cronies didn't tamper with the ballots?

    Out: "Breaking Bad"

Of course Bryan Cranston got a Best Actor in a Drama Series; if he didn't, we'd be storming the
