As the Moet champagne flowed, stars poured on the penis jokes.

Funniest: "Hello, I'm Seth Rogen," said the "50/50" star from the podium standing next to co-presenter Kate Beckinsale, "and I'm currently trying to conceal a giant erection." As a clearly embarrassed Beckinsale laughed, the camera cut away to Jodie Foster's two sons sitting in their mother's lap, increasing the awkwardness for viewers at home.

Girl Power: Tina Fey and Jane Lynch couldn't resist making a joke about the endowment of nominee Thomas Jane's title character in "Hung," and immediately high-fived each other for making a d*** joke live on the air.

Overcompensating: George Clooney, in accepting his award for Best Actor, praised his fellow nominee Michael Fassbender. Not only did he mention the actor's full-frontal nudity in "Shame," Clooney also joked about how the Irishman could play golf with his hands behind his back. Ahem. If the audience didn't get the joke, Clooney demonstrated by swinging his

  • At the end of his acceptance speech after winning the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Peter Dinklage told viewers to look up a man named Martin Henderson. "I want to mention a gentleman I'm thinking about in England," Dinklage said. He was refering to this man, a dwarf who was partially paralyzed when a stranger picked him up and threw him onto the ground outside an English pub.

The attack, which occurred late last year, has been widely condemned. Shortly after the incident, Henderson told an English paper recently, "I was at the back of the pub outside and the next thing I know I'm suddenly in the air and someone has got hold of me," Henderson told The Sun. "A man just approached, lifted me up and dropped me. He didn't say anything."

  • “Bridesmaids” and Brangelina Get Snubbed

    Bridesmaids

The box office hit "Bridesmaids" had huge momentum with two nominations going into the only awards show that has a separate comedy category. This should have been girls' night out. But there was no love for the movie, which failed to win Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, or a best actress win for Kristen Wiig. Break-out star Melissa McCarthy was never in the running.

Also hurting was Brangelina, but at least the couple got to spend the long evening together. Pitt, who was up for a best actor award, lost out to pal George Clooney, and his "Moneyball" struck out too, going 0 for 4. His partner Angelina Jolie's directorial debut for "In the Land of Blood and Honey" also lost to the Iranian film "A Separation." The couple continued to smile like royalty to the bitter end of a night that seemed longer than it should have because wisecracking Gervais was more obnoxious than amusing -- and the audience could really see him sweat. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "Drive," "A Dangerous

Morgan FreemanYou know who won, who lost, and who host Ricky Gervais mocked without mercy. We've tracked down some answers to the other questions you might have after watching the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.

Why was Morgan Freeman wearing a glove?

Freeman was given the Cecil B. DeMille Memorial Award for his distinguished career. During his acceptance speech, viewers couldn't help but notice Freeman's black glove. The actor's been wearing the glove in public for several years, ever since he injured his hand during a serious 2008 car accident. Madonna was also spotted onstage wearing a lone green glove, which was a fashion flashback for the material girl.

    Why couldn't anybody read?

Several stars seemed to have trouble reading while up on stage. Early in the show, Julianne Moore and Rob Lowe could do nothing but grin while the teleprompter apparently malfunctioned. Mercifully, somebody finally handed them a piece of paper. Later, Meryl Streep, who

  • Buzziest Moments from the Golden Globes

The 69th annual Golden Globe awards show is kind of like the little sister of the award shows. It gets away with a bit more mischief and a lot more fun than its responsible, older sibling, the Academy Awards does later in the year. The Foreign Press Association seems to court controversy, asking back Ricky Gervais to host again this year even after his controversial comments last time around. Here, some of the show's top moments.

    Madonna's Racy Comment

Madonna, who got a statue her tune "Masterpiece" from the movie "W.E.," which she also directed, stepped forward to present the award for best foreign film. And that's when things got naughty. Ricky Gervais started it with this introduction: "She's always vogue. She's a material girl. And she's just like a virgin," he said sarcastically.

Without missing a beat, Madonna stepped up to the mic and delivered this zinger: "If I'm still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don't you

  • (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)Natalie Portman believes in giving back, and the actress who swept the 2011 awards scene returned as a presenter for the 2012 Golden Globes' best actor in a drama.

A relatively restrained Ricky Gervais called out her new maternal role in his introductions: "This year, she took some time out to have a baby. Consequently, she's been nominated for nothing. Really pathetic. But she's learned that valuable lesson that all you already new: Never put family first."

Naturally, the petite Portman glided onstage in a strapless fuchsia Lanvin dress with a red accent, back in form.

The Golden Globes should be a sentimental occasion for Portman: That's where she and fiance Benjamin Millepied made their first red-carpet stroll as an engaged couple. The then-pregnant starlet also made new, albeit petite strides in maternity couture, thanks to a Viktor and Rolf gown adorned with a single but elaborate rose made of red Swarovski crystals.

  • 2012 Golden Globe Winners

There were many touching moments throughout tonight's Golden Globe Awards ceremony. Highlights included Morgan Freeman's heartfelt speech in accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award from Sidney Poitier and Helen Mirren, and a hysterical bilingual acceptance speech from the cast of "Modern Family" after their win for best television series - comedy or musical.

Michelle Williams's thank-you speech dedicated to daughter Matilda after her award for best performance by an actress in a motion picture comedy or musical proved to be another sweet moment, and a dog almost stole the show when hitting the stage with "The Artist's" ensemble for their win for best motion picture - comedy or musical.

Cute couples also proved a theme of the night, with the adorable singing duo of William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman presenting best supporting actress in a television series to Jessica Lange. Frequent pans to inseparable pairs during the awards included George Clooney and Stacy Keibler and Keith Urban and

  • Clooney Pokes Fun at Pal Pitt’s Cane

(AP Photo/NBC, Paul Drinkwater)When you're as cool as George Clooney, it's okay to poke fun at Brad Pitt. "The Descendants" star and Golden Globe nominee hobbled (or more like swaggered) onto the Beverly Hilton Hotel stage, mocking his old friend Pitt, who injured his ACL ligament while carrying daughter Vivienne earlier this month.

Pitt has been gracing red carpets since sporting a sleek black cane -- and George Clooney carried the same - drawing laughs from the crowd - when he introduced "Moneyball," up for Best Motion Picture (Drama). Injured or not, both men make that cane look good.

The two go way back. They became close while shooting "Ocean's 11," in 2001, and spent time at Clooney's villa on Lake Como, Italy. In fact, teasing each other is also nothing new. In 2009, Pitt famously poked fun at Clooney's sexuality rumors on "Ellen" and earlier, Clooney joked about Angelina's pregnancy gossip.

This year, both men are up for the same award, Best Performance by an Actor in

  • Globes’ Battle of the Bands

Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams. (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)

Tonight's red carpet appearances at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards was a battle of the bands. Charlize Theron wowed in a peachy-beige Dior gown with a plunging neckline and sported a sparkling headband to match, and Michelle Williams adorned her hair with a dazzling Fred Leighton headband.

Both women channeled the '80s with their 2-inch-wide hair bands, but Theron's choice looked practically gamine while Williams (with her pixie cut)  looked more like a schoolgirl than Marilyn. Who wins the battle of the bands? The jury's out, but the verdict for either would be  "Gorgeous ." One thing's certain: Headbands are making a comeback.

  • Ricky Gervais Targets Kim Kardashian

Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais doesn't play nice when he cracks jokes. But despite his well-earned reputation, some wondered whether Gervais, who has hosted twice before, would tone down the snark during his third go-round.

Nope. Not even close. Much like the honey badger, Gervais just don't care. Right off the bat, Gervais got into it, ripping on Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, and even Dame Helen Mirren. Gervais called Kim Kardashian a poor man's version of Kate Middleton. "The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton, actually. But a bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker. And more easily bought."

Then he really let it rip on Johnny Depp, who was the first presenter of the night. Depp took the stage and Gervais asked him, "Have you seen 'The Tourist' yet?" Depp, suppressing a good-natured grin, had to admit that not even he has seen the notorious bomb. "Uh, no," Depp said.

Gervais has had other infamous confrontations in years past. He got into
