MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Oscar winner Morgan Freeman is in serious condition in a Memphis hospital, following what is being called a serious car accident.
Freeman, who currently stars in "The Dark Knight," and a female passenger, Demaris Meyer, were driving on Mississippi Highway 32 in a rural area of Tallahatchie County approximately four miles west of Charleston at 11:30 PM when Freeman's car went off the right side of the road and proceeded to flip over. The doors were jammed on the vehicle and both of them had to be removed from the car with the jaws of life, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed to Access.

In case you haven't already noticed, 2008 has been an exceptional year for superhero movies. It started with "Iron Man," inarguably one of the best movies ever made based on a comic book character. That was followed by the very entertaining reboot of "The Incredible Hulk," Will Smith's peculiar, if uneven "Hancock" and the wildly inventive "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."
That trend reaches a peak with "The Dark Knight," director Christopher Nolan's visually stunning, super serious and, yes, very dark follow-up to 2005's "Batman Begins."
