Holmes has replaced Liv Tyler in the comedy "The Romantics," according to Variety. Not only will Holmes star in the film, but she'll also executive produce.

What worked so brilliantly on the page doesn't work nearly as well on the big screen -- at least, not all of it. There's no doubt that longtime fans will be thrilled to see their cherished graphic novel come to life with the best special effects that a $100 million budget can buy, but more mainstream moviegoers -- even those who embraced "Iron Man" and "The Dark Knight" -- will likely be bored to tears by an existential superhero story that's 2 hours and 41 minutes long.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Malin Akerman, who filmgoers may recognize from her breakout role as Ben Stiller's eccentric (if not straight-out nutty) wife in "The Heartbreak Kid," or as Katherine Heigl's self-absorbed man-stealing younger sister in "27 Dresses," takes on a whole new kind of role in the dark adaptation of the graphic novel "Watchmen."
Malin recently told Access Hollywood's Scott Mantz and Dish of Salt, Laura Saltman, that working long hours on a film set in the form-fitting super heroine costume of the second-generation Silk Spectre was anything but smooth.
