NEW YORK, New York -- Since its beginning in 1984, the MTV Video Music Awards have been a reliable source for classic, sometimes crazy, moments from the biggest names in pop music.
Tonight, the show takes Manhattan for its latest night of surprises.
But first, from Madonna's wedding dress to Britney's big comeback, Access Hollywood has tallied up 10 of the ceremony's most memorable moments through the years.

GLENDALE, Calif. -- Michael Jackson's friends and family bid farewell to the King of Pop at Forest Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary in Glendale, Calif., on Thursday evening.
Dozens of stars including Elizabeth Taylor, Macaulay Culkin and his girlfriend, Mila Kunis, the Reverend Al Sharpton, Corey Feldman, Barry Bonds, Miko Brando, Michael's ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley and Chris Tucker joined the pop star's family at a service held in the outdoors as the superstar was laid to rest.

Friends & Family Gather To Lay Michael Jackson To Rest

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Michael Jackson's friends and family have gathered to bid farewell to the King of Pop at Forest Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary in Glendale, California.
Dozens of stars including Elizabeth Taylor, Macaulay Culkin and his girlfriend, Mila Kunis, the Reverend Al Sharpton, Corey Feldman, Miko Brando, Michael's ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley and Chris Tucker are seated among Michael's family at a service being held in the outdoors.
The ceremony, which is just starting, was originally due to begin at 7 PM and was scheduled to last just one hour.
