more »NEW YORK, -- While Alex Rodriguez's wife may have just filed for divorce, a friend of Alex's confirms to Access Hollywood the couple's relationship has been floundering for quite some time.
The friend tells Access that the couple has had a number of unspecified issues, which could not be resolved and although Cynthia may have been the one to file, Alex feels it's best if they both separate and get on with their lives.
And while the Yankees superstar is expected to answer his soon-to-be-ex wife's divorce petition in the next few days, the friend told Access A-Rod is "very depressed" about being kept from his kids.
