LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Emmy winner Jeremy Piven wasn't the only one talking about bombs at the 2008 Emmys -- but this bomb wasn't the awkward opening with the show's five host -- word of a possible bomb scare during the red carpet had nominees hoofing it to the Nokia Theater.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Any drama at the Emmys was strictly reserved for those picking up their acting awards. It certainly wasn't about the style. The red carpet was a sea of safe choices and could have used a dose of drama.
One bright spot -- bright colors. Mariska Hargitay in marigold Carolina Herrera, and Teri Hatcher in yellow Monique Lhuillier laughingly told us that they looked like, "a couple of hot bananas." Brooke Shields was beautiful in bright fuchsia... Nicollette Sheridan went with eggplant Angel Sanchez. Tina Fey did a 180 from her dead-on Sara Palin Soccer Mom look -- all sleek in deep purple David Meister. Christina Applegate went with a softer hue in her elegant one-shouldered light blue Reem Acra.

Making the move from impassioned frontwoman to actress has been inspiring for Shirley. But to play the role of the bad terminator (that's on the hunt for the Connor family) as well as her human incarnation, Shirley said she still needed inspiration, which she looked for in two different women.
Find out why Shirley turned to Close and Thatcher and what her former bandmate thinks of her new role!
