NEW YORK, New York -- The "American Idol" judges met their newest member on Tuesday at the New York City tryouts, and Access Hollywood was on the scene as Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul got to welcome Kara DioGuardi.
Kara, a songwriter with hits including collaborations with Britney Spears, Faith Hill, the Jonas Brothers and a number of "Idol" vets, didn't seem nervous about her famous new colleagues.
"[I'm] not intimidated," Kara told Access. "Now that I look at Simon, I can hold my own."

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- It sounds like moms have a "Crush" on David Archuleta.
The "American Idol" runner-up's first single, "Crush," bowed at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 on Thursday -- a spot higher than the debut of "Idol" season seven winner David Cook's "The Time Of My Life" in June -- and in fact, the song was the biggest chart debut in 18 months, according to Billboard.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- With auditions for season eight of "American Idol" already underway you can expect a major overhaul for the new season, according to everyone's favorite snarky judge, Simon Cowell. In a conference call from London with reporters this afternoon, Cowell said he and "Idol" producers have already begun meetings in the UK with the production team and Fox executives to discuss what he would like to see happen.
With the exit of executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe recently announced, Simon thinks the show will get a much-needed face-lift.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta has debuted his first single, "Crush."
The young singer dropped the new single on the syndicated Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Friday morning.
