Casting Call: Johnny Depp Sinks His Teeth Into The 'Shadows'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 27, 2007) -- Johnny Depp emerges from the "Shadows." Vince and Reese cozy up by the Christmas tree. Plus, Susan Sarandon is feeling "Lovely" with Peter Jackson. It's all in today's Access Hollywood Casting Call

Johnny Depp has signed on to produce "Dark Shadows," a film based on the '60s daytime vampire thriller, reports Variety.

While Depp is already locked in as a producer of the supernatural feature through his Infinitum-Nihil production company, there is no word yet whether he would also star in the pic.

The spooky soap - which spanned over 1,200 episodes, featured traditional gothic horror elements like vampires, monsters, witches and werewolves oh my!

Coming off of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," Depp will next be seen on the big screen in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd," based on the villainous barber Broadway musical.

The weather outside might be frightful, but New Line Cinema is hoping the thought of Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon together will be so delightful.

The duo will star in the holiday comedy "Four Christmases," reports Variety.

The yuletide laugher follows a couple struggling to visit all four divorced parents on Christmas day.

New Line execs are hoping to release the pic during holiday season 2008.

Witherspoon, who won the Best Actress Oscar for "Walk the Line" in 2006, recently finished shooting the political thriller "Rendition," slated for an October release.

Vaughn will next be seen in this year's holiday comedy "Fred Claus," alongside Paul Giamatti, Kevin Spacey and Rachel Weisz.

Speaking of Rachel Weisz

Susan Sarandon has joined Weisz in the cast of Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones," reports Variety.

Based on the Alice Sebold novel, the film also stars Ryan Gosling and newcomer Saoirse Ronan.

"Lovely" revolves around a young girl who watches over her family -- and killer -- from heaven. Sarandon will play the grandmother, who comes to live with the family after the girl's murder.

Stanley Tucci is in talks to play the killer. Shooting is slated to begin in October.

Jeremy Piven is out and Eddie Izzard is in for the animated monster movie "Igor," per The Hollywood Reporter.

Izzard will replace Piven as the nemesis to Igor, a hunch-backed lab assistant in a world of evil scientists who are plotting to win the annual Evil Science Fair.

"Igor" also features the voices of John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jennifer Coolidge, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno, Molly Shannon and Sean Hayes.
