Carrie Underwood On Her Grammy: 'I Vote For Myself Often!'

By Access HollywoodFebruary 10, 2008, 9:07 pm PST

Carrie Underwood picked up a Grammy Sunday night for her single, "Before He Cheats," and she revealed she had a hand in her win.

"I was only up for two [Grammys], but yeah, I vote for myself often," the blonde said backstage at the event. "I have no shame. I pay to be a member."

Underwood said picking up her latest Grammy has been another exciting moment on her rise to fame since winning "American Idol."

"I think it's all been such a whirlwind," she said. "It started so quickly and it's never slowed down - it's amazing to think I ever ended up here, I don't know how it happened. But I'm glad."

In fact, Underwood got a chance to revisit with some people from her past - "Idol" judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, who she ran into the evening before the Grammys.

"I actually saw Randy and Paula last night at Clive Davis' party," she said. "They're just so happy to see us. We're just kids - when we're starting out and we just blossom and mature."

Having blossomed herself, all the way to a major co-headlining U.S. trek with Keith Urban, Underwood said she has some advice for the next crop of "Idol" contenders?

"The main thing I say is don't take anything for granted," she said. "People can forget why they're in it and it's 'cause they love music and this is what they always wanted to do. Don't burn bridges."

In 2007, Underwood was the good girl who picked up a host of Grammys. Backstage, when she was asked about the six wins by troubled British chanteuse Amy Winehouse this year, Underwood said she had nothing but praise for the star.

"I think Amy Winehouse is a very talented artist. No matter what's happening in her personal life, she's very talented and very creative and definitely deserves accolades," Underwood said.

Carrie needs to vote for herself. She is selfish person. She will NEVER be as good as Faith Hill, Martina McBride or Reba. She gets all mad if fans ask for an autograph. Like its an inconvenience. I wouldn't waste my time on a no talent wanna be!!!

Carrie has outclassed Faith Hill by far. She is young yet mature, down to earth and gracious. She is on the way up with no end in sight. Faith is a great artist, but needs to rember it's not all about her and not to be a sore looser - The video proves it was "no Joke" when she screamed "WHAT!!". Martina McBride, well she's spectacular and

Carrie has not surpassed Faith or Martina. They have both come up through the ranks and been in Country Music for years. She will never be the star that either of those gracious women are. She is a young Diva and full of herself. Martina and Faith have both kept their humility in tact. Unlike Carrie Doll who is hanging out at the clubs with her younger boyfriend wearing expensive clothes &

One thing is right, she will never be a Faith Hill or Martina McBride.. because she has already SURPASSED them both in record sales!! This girl is phenomenal, quite the talent. She's got the looks for sure, but that voice in angelic! She will be a force to be reckoned with in the country music industry!

I am a country girl through and through. Kinda of like Barbara Mandrell sang." I was country when country wasn"t cool." Carrie has of course made herself great amounts of money but has worked hard to achieve it. But as for Simmon Cal. Gee not bad take for someone who doesn't really like country. How does it sound now?

Carrie is not a REAL artist in any sense of the word. She is a product of marketing and a manufactured singer. She doesn't deserve any of the awards she has won and admits voting for herself often. Whatever! She is full of herself and nothing is real about her including her hair extensions, which by the way are getting old and tired. She will never be Faith Hill or Martina McBride.
