Britney's Dinner Date With Mel Gibson

STUDIO CITY, Calif. -- A new player entered the Britney Spears saga on Saturday night - Mel Gibson.

Britney and Mel dined together at Romanov, a Russian restaurant in Studio City, according to People.

The celeb duo - who were once neighbors in an exclusive Malibu community - were part of a group that enjoyed a two-hour meal at the restaurant, People reports.

"It was exciting to have both of them here together. We hear they hit it off and that Britney seemed excited," a restaurant source told People.

Wearing a green top with jeans and boots, Britney reportedly hit Romanov with a friend, while Gibson and a few others soon joined them in the restaurant's private dining room.

It was not known what Brit and Mel discussed during dinner, however, an onlooker told People that the pop star left the restaurant around 8:15 PM and "looked happy."

"It seems the meeting was a success," the eye witness told People.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, Britney spent some time with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, according to People.

    I thank God that Mel Gibson made the film "The Passion of the Christ." It depicts the way He was treated by those who should have known Who He was. Jesus knew before man was created what man would do to Him, and He came anyway to make the Way of Salvation for those who want to be saved.
