Ricki Lake Says “DWTS” Has Helped Her Drop 20 Pounds

Slim Ricki and partner Derek Hough (ABC)

Anyone with an eye on this season of "Dancing With the Stars" can that see Ricki Lake is dropping some serious pounds on the dance floor, but last night the actress/former talk show host shared that she's 20 pounds slimmer thanks to her increasingly-acclaimed footwork on the ballroom floor.

Pre-"DWTS" Ricki late last year (Toby Canham/Getty Images)Lake -- who at one point tipped the scales at 270 pounds -- is currently engaged to her boyfriend of 13 months, and is even waiting to try out bridal dresses until her transformation is complete. "I'm definitely a size six now," Lake recently shared. "I'll probably be a size four by the end of it. It's come to the point where it doesn't matter. I no longer wear Spanx."

So thanks to six weeks of competitive dancing (plus a few weeks of pre-premiere rehearsals), Lake is rocking a trimmer body than we've ever seen before. After five hours of rehearsal with pro partner Derek Hough each day, Lake says she is "going home and eating a balanced meal. It's really that simple ." She recently told People she's "obsessed with gazpacho" and starts her day with healthy eats like oatmeal and veggie omelets.

Even if there won't be a Kirstie Alley-esque weight loss shocker this season (100 pounds lost!), plenty of other celebrities are reaping the benefits of rigorous exercise and jubilant toe-tapping.

Cable TV legal commentator Nancy Grace so far hasn't bested Ricki when it comes to tripping the light fantastic, but she's almost matched her in terms of weight loss, dropping 16 lbs thus far. Unlike Lake, though, Grace wasn't looking to change shape when she joined the show's 13th season. "I just think women should love their bodies like they are," Grace says.

The boys on "DWTS" are also slimming down their waistlines. (Brother of Kim, Khloe and Kourtney) Rob Kardashian says he still eats what he wants but guesses he's now less than 200 pounds, while Son-of-Cher Chaz Bono lost 5 pounds within the first six days of rehearsals, according to his pro partner.

how is she a size 4? Seriously, whats with the size chart for women? Kim K. claims she is a size 2.. So what would you call the younger celeb girls, Size -4? To make sizes smaller than they really are shows how women are not confident with their body.. I now there will be women on here giving me a thumbs down, but seriously, why? What is a Size 4 today was a size 8 a decade ago.. I don't think size for men have changed over the decades.. What they have is BIG and TALL.. It is what it is.. You want to be a size smaller, eat healthy.. If you are naturally curvy or BIG, accept it and be happy.. Why claim that you are a size 2 weighing 150 lbs?

It's called "vanity sizing" and most clothing companies engage in it.

If YOU'RE frustrated with women's sizing.... how do you think WOMEN feel. We can allmost NEVER just walk into a store pick out an article of clothing without trying it on. Sizes differ from store to store & designer to designer... VERY frustrating. If my husband needs jeans... he walks into a store picks out a 32 x 32 and leaves. That NEVER happens with women!!

I don't care- she didn't say she was a size 4 she said she was a size 6 and hopes to be a size 4 by the end of the show.

Why do I feel like the only smart person commenting? It says she ONCE tipped the scale at 270 pounds, not she was 270 pounds when she started Dancing With The Starts and NOW, she's lost 20 pounds making her a size 4! Geez people, use common sense! If you click on the highlighted text that says "once tipped the scale at 270 pounds" it takes you to a story about her and her weight loss saying she has lost 140 ponds from the 270! That would make her 130 pounds, landing her in a size 6! And if she dropped another 20 since that other article was written that takes her down to more then thin enough to a size 4! People are so rude and ignorant. Good god. Congratulations Ricki, you look great girl, keep it up!

If people would read the sentence again they would see it said "at one Point she weighed 270"
that's now what seh weighed when starting DWTS.

Thank You!! Reading comprehension FAIL!! At one point in time she weighed 270 lbs, but that was quite some time ago. She went into dancing at around a size 10, so losing 20 lbs would put her around a size 6.

Thank you Nancy Grace for saying something that most women NEED to hear , "I just think women should love their bodies like they are." The whole "size" thing is hogwash. Every shape is different . Embrace the shape you were given and work with it. I, personally think Lacey and Cheryl's curves are very sexy and beautiful. They are women , after all, and women should have curves.

Notice that the only people who say that are fat slobs? Nancy Disgrace is definitely in that category.
      • Marek 6 months ago
Spoken like a true fatty. Women are supposed to have curves that go in from this hips not out.

And all you have to do is work out 5 hours a day and eat a sensible meal "its that simple". Ridiculous trying to live up to Hollywood values. Hide your daughters.

If you read under the picture, it says last years picture before DWTS. Of course thats not a Size 6 Picture.

"After five hours of rehearsal with pro partner Derek Hough each day, Lake says she is 'going home and eating a balanced meal. It's really that simple .'" Yes, so very simple...should I quit my full-time job to dance 5 hours?

it said she ONCE was 270, obviously now is not. And also she is wearing a very baggy shirt in the size 6 photo but you can tell her legs are slim. Also if you took 10 women who all wore a size 6 I can wager they would all look different in their clothes, it depends on your body type and Ricki is obviously top heavy

She is truly a beautiful lady, either at 200 pounds or 120.
    • Kim  •  7 months ago
She looks great! I remember when she had her talk show she was a lot heavier then!
    • tiffani and james  •  7 months ago
Wow. There are so many people in the world that judge other based on their appearance and sexual preference. Who cares if they are fat, thin, gay or straight? What is so messed up about YOU that you care so much about what is wrong with someone else. It is hard to beleve that people still feel this way in the United States. Aceept and love everyone. Don't think with your religious beliefs and love unconditionally. Life is too short to hate!

I like how heavy women like to say, "I am a size 6 or a size 4 when most people can see NOT!. Oh, they have lost a lot of weight and it's nice but come on! Who are they kidding? I weight 110 lbs and wear a size 8. So how can this women who are bigger and weight more, lots and lots more come out and say, "oh I wear a size 6 or a size 4?" Really! Who is making their cloth? Don't get me wrong, she looks nice but she is not a size 6 not by a long shot!

I agree with a previous post it does say "At one Point she wighed 270 lbs" it doesnt say she lost 20 pounds from 270 and now wears a size 6. have to read more carefully.

Rikki...you looked great when you were heavy, and you look great now...I suppose it is the inner you shining thru...never be ashamed of who, or what size you are...more important things to worry about...

      Go Ricki
    • Tony  •  6 months ago
She is a cute young lady. But, I see young ladies 100lbs lighter wear size 10-12. If she is wearing a size 6. She must be really tall to get into that size.
