"Sex. Just the word is sexy to me. There’s something to it." - Kevin Mazur/WireImageCameron Diaz has something in common with Oprah Winfrey and other marriage-defying celebrities: She thinks the institution is dead. Outdated. Unnecessary.
"I think we have to make our own rules," Diaz declares in the lad magazine's June issue. "I don't think we should live our lives in relationships based off of old traditions that don't suit our world any longer."
Diaz, 38, is dating New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez. The sporty duo provided the Super Bowl's most riveting five seconds when Diaz was caught spoon feeding A-Rod on camera. That moment was an interesting glimpse into the pair's dynamic: Is Diaz his mother or his girlfriend?! Either way, odds are she's not his future wife (but never say never).
"A lot of people are married to people that they're not romantic withanymore," Diaz tells Elle U.K. (via Music Rooms). "I just didn't ever marry anybody that I then had to getdivorced from. We break up. We move on."
Before A-Rod, Diaz had a series of long-term relationships with Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto and Matt Dillon; there have also been short-lived flings with surfer Kelly Slater, Vegas magician Criss Angel and model Paul Sculfor (who also dated Jennifer Aniston).
"People are always asking me, 'Do you want to get married? Do you have children?' My family doesn't ask me that," Diaz continues. "They don't put that on me. They never have. They know that if I want to get married, I'll do it. They don't think I'm out there, stranded, without what I want. They see me as active in my life, balancing everything that's important to me, and if that's part of what I want, at any point in my life -- and who knows, it might be in the future -- then that'll be that."
