Justin Bieber Will Probably Address His Paternity Scandal In ‘Today’ Interview

This morning, Matt Lauer announced on the "Today" show that Justin Bieber will -- surprise! -- make an appearance Friday to talk about his music and "whatever else is in the headlines."

Hmmm. Whatever else? (You're glib, Matt. Glib.) Translating Lauer's oblique reference, we can certainly expect the crack, underrated morning show interviewer to press the squeaky-clean Canadian teen dream on one issue that could spell the end of his career: namely, the paternity dispute filed against him by 20-year-old Mariah Yeater.

Yeater claims the Biebs is the father of her 3-month-old son, Tristyn (Yeater-Bieber?) -- the result of a sexual tryst backstage after his concert at L.A.'s Staples Center in October 2010. Among her allegations: he refused to wear protection, saying he wanted to "feel everything." (Virtual slap on the wrist at the link.)

Naturally, Beliebers are up in arms, throwing Twitter grenades on Yeater's reputation. One of the most unintentionally funny tweets, discovered by Buzzfeed: "As if Kenny would've let Mariah Yeater and Justin alone in a room together." (As if! Also, Kenny who?)

Meanwhile, Bieber is tweeting up a storm about his holiday album and the quality time he's spending with another Mariah. "4:30 a.m. and going hard on the 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' shoot with @mariahcarey !!" he humble-bragged to his 14 gazillion followers and enemies of Yeater.

Yesterday Bieber tweeted this non-denial denial: ""so Im going to ignore the rumors...and focus on what is real. an opportunity to help by doing what i love. Judge me on the music! Love yall!"

When confronted with a potential grilling from Matt Lauer, will Bieber stay on message -- "it's all about the music, ya'll!" -- or 'fess up to the truth, whatever that might be?
