Hugh Grant Welcomes Daughter With Mystery Woman

Andreas Rentz/Getty ImagesHugh Grant has welcomed his first child, a baby girl, the 51-year-old actor's representative confirms to The Famous.

"I can confirm that Hugh Grant is the delighted father of a baby girl," publicist Carrie Gordon said in a statement Tuesday. "He and the mother had a fleeting affair and while this was not planned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive. He and the mother have discussed everything and are on very friendly terms."

Gordon did not disclose the mother's identity.

The baby was born in early October, a source tells Us Weekly, revealing: "He's not with the mum anymore but he's absolutely thrilled."

Grant was previously linked to the Chinese actress Tinglan Hong, whom he dated last spring.

Although his roguish reputation might suggest otherwise, the "Love, Actually" star hinted that he wanted kids in 2007, telling Vogue: "As much as I adore myself, I'm quite keen to find someone else to care about more. I remember reading a Warren Beatty quote when he finally had children and said what a relief it was to not be all me, me, me."

Oh how wonderful. Yet another baby born to a celebrity who will probably end up not having much a father because God forbid the parents should be married and actually MAKE A COMMITMENT to each BEFORE having babies! Hollywood is filled with nothing but narcissistic jackazzes who don't care about who has to face the consequences of their irresponsible actions. And to anyone saying this is not a big deal, YOU try growing up without a father!

This activity is not exclusive to celebrity.

Right, Kristin. You never read about the next-door-neighbor's kid having a baby, or that the local high school has a nursery. A NURSERY, so that all the moms can still finish their education

Any birth control is not %100 effective, so oops. At least they want the kid. Give them a chance to try and do good. Like you are such a wonderful expert on the subject of life. I know I do my best and roll with the punches, because somehow I did not come out perfect. Just do the very best you can. Blame yourself when you quit!

Well, gee aren't you people so high and mighty!! So what he had a child. A baby may not be planned but as a child who wasn't planned, there wasn't a day that went by that I did not know that I was loved and valued as a human being when I was growing up. I have a feeling he is going to be a more involved, dutiful father than all of you holier-than-thou "experts" who feel you know it all when it comes to the logistics of bringing a baby in to this world. Do us all a favor and tend to your kids and marriages and keep your comments and judgements to yourselves!!!

I feel exactly the same way and I know the baby will be blessed and have a great life with 2 loving parents

I also agree with you. I was an uplanned baby to an unwed mother in the 50's, with a super religious father. Not ideal. The person who spoiled me the most and showed the most love was my grandfather.

This baby will be loved, regardless of how she came upon the scene. I'd like to know how many of us ARE truly planned.

This is Hugh Grant. What would you expect?

Not an excuse, by any means.

At 51 Hugh should consider marriage. Nothing like giving the child a stable home with lots of love. Nothing like a loving and caring environment for a growing child.
    • pickynickie  •  6 months ago
While my parents were married, I was an unplanned child. My mother let me kknow that ALL my life even though I was the one who took care of her in her later years. Anyone who can say they've never had an unplanned child. please don't let the child know. How long is Hugh Grant going to have to pay for doing so9mething likely 'inspired' by "Beautiful Woman?" How many others have done it and didn't get caught? That has been run into the ground. So judgmemtal...have any of you EVER made a mistake?

Congratulations to Hugh, the mommy and their little angel...
NOW... I've read most of the comments, some nasty and some sweets... I don't agree with the ugly, nasty ones. Why is it that we believe we have to approve other people's life and behavior? At least he's being a responsible father and accepts that he's happy and can support very comfortably his child... Don't you think, people?.... So, let's be happy for him and his baby and let's be less judgmental on people's life.

GOD BLESS YOUR DAY TO ALL OF YOU!
