Check Out Valerie Bertinelli’s Blue Wedding Dress
It was a sky-blue wedding for Valerie Bertinelli and beau Tom Vitale.
The 50-year-old "Hot in Cleveland" star married Vitale, her financial-planner boyfriend of seven years, on New Year's Day in a sunset ceremony at their Malibu home. In a departure from traditional white-wedding garb, the bride wore a sky-colored turquoise gown made especially for her by designer David Meister. Her strappy shoes were Jimmy Choos.
"I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him 'my husband,'" Bertinelli tells People magazine. "I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love."

The couple -- who got engaged in Italy last May -- said their "I do's" before a crowd of 100 guests including Bertinelli's ex Eddie Van Halen and their 19-year-old son, Wolfgang. Also in the audience: "Hot in Cleveland" co-stars Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick in addition to Mackenzie Phillips, who starred alongside Bertinelli in the classic family sitcom "One Day at a Time." Phillips broke down in tears while giving a toast to her former TV sister.

Refreshingly, Bertinelli and Van Halen disprove the notion that exes can't be friends. (Check out her totally-'80s wedding dress in the photo to the left.) The pair divorced in 2006 after a whopping 25 years of marriage -- and yet, they have managed to maintain a healthy, supportive relationship. The Jenny Craig spokeswoman attended Van Halen's 2009 wedding to Jane Liszewski and he in turn showed up at the Bertinelli-Vitale ceremony with Liszewski as his plus one.
In her 2008 memoir "Losing It," Bertinelli wrote about her failed first marriage, her past depression and weight-loss issues.
"Our fights about his drinking had taken a toll," she said, describing the end of her partnership with Van Halen. "Discussing and solving our problems used to bring us closer, but now it wore us out. ... I knew, sadly, that one way or another I was going to end up on my own."

Of course, that did not happen. She met the 49-year-old Vitale in 2004, and the rest was history. However, Bertinelli's blue wedding photos make us nostalgic for the images from her vintage Van Halen nuptuals, when the ecstatic bride wore white to marry her then-soulmate.
