The Famous: Watching the Watched
  • Obligatory "This is Reese Witherspoon" caption, not that she needs an introduction. - Jeffrey Mayer/WireImageThe elderly driver who struck Reese Witherspoon during the actress' jog in Santa Monica is being forced to retake her driver's test, TMZ reports. Law enforcement sources tell the site that the woman, who's 84, will also need to have an eye exam and provide a list of medications she's taking.

Meanwhile, Witherspoon is not pressing charges for Wednesday's accident. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk, and Witherspoon suffered only minor injuries including a quarter-sized gash on her forehead. As of yesterday, the actress was recovering at home, possibly contemplating the pros and cons of purchasing Brad Pitt's $14 million Malibu home (a con being the side effect of any potential awkwardness with her friend Jennifer Aniston.)

  • Chaos at Tiffany's. - Andrew H. Walker/Getty ImagesAnyone who strolled the top shopping avenues of New York City last night deserves a medal for bravery: the annual Fashion's Night Out event, in which retailers keep their doors open late to boost sales, plying potential customers with cocktails and special celebrity appearances, is Mardi Gras for the "omg fashun" crowd. There are colorful distractions everywhere, and people dressed to to the nines shouting things like: "SJP was at Oscar de la Renta!"

Despite the scene-y scene, The Famous decided to suck it up and catch a Leighton Meester performance at the heralded Tiffany store on Fifth Avenue. Meester is an actress who sings, like a Gwyneth, as opposed to a singer who acts, like a Beyonce. As an admirer of Meester in "Gossip Girl" -- not to mention her underrated turn in "Country Strong" -- we were curious to see how she'd perform in front of a live audience, and if she could -- gasp -- actually sing. About 500 fans packed the third floor of the jewelry store like sweaty sardines,

  • Tom Brady’s Uggs Ad is Odd

Let's just get this out of the way: Tom Brady IS PITCHING FOR UGGS?!?? This is the handsomest, most famous quarterback in our country and he's married to Gisele for goodness' sakes, and he's in an ad for what have to be the most maligned and laughable footwear of the past ten years (in a close race with Crocs)??

Also, his hair is still weird and the way this ad is edited is sort of giving us motion sickness, but, erm, Tom's face still looks good? The dog is cute?

  • Evan Rachel Wood Has Had An Eventful Few Days

Last week in Venice. - Frederic Nebinger/Getty ImagesEvan Rachel Wood -- who has been touring the world to promote new film "The Ides of March" -- had her tooth knocked out while she was dancing in Paris Tuesday night.

Apparently, according to TMZ, one of the revelers got a bit too carefree with his or her arms and accidentally elbowed Wood in the mouth. (Somehow, and we don't even want to know how they got their hands on this, TMZ has a picture of the knocked out tooth.)

Wood's rep told Us Weekly that the actress has already met with a dentist about getting the tooth replaced.

At least Wood had something to look forward to post-accident: the day after the incident was her 24th birthday.

  • Gaz Shirley / PacificCoastNews.comGaz Shirley / PacificCoastNews.com  What's the deal with Ben Affleck's bizarre new look? The actor's retro leisure suit and shaggy mane suggest that he's 1) time-traveled back to the 1970s 2) having a midlife crisis, hence the Bieber hair or 3) on the set of his new movie, "Argo."

If you guessed No. 3, you would be correct! These photographs show Affleck decked out in period garb while filming scenes in Hollywood for his role in "Argo," a star-studded drama about the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Affleck, who demonstrated his directing chops in the critically acclaimed 2010 drama "The Town" and 2007's "Gone Baby Gone," both directs and stars the movie. He recruited a who's who of gravitas-projecting, respected actors including Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Alan Arkin, pictured walking next to Affleck in the photo to the right. George Clooney is taking a behind-the-scenes role as producer.

The movie, slated for release in 2012, is based on the true story of a CIA "exfiltration" specialist (Affleck) who cooks up a crazy

  • This is a Star magazine report, so take it with a grain of toxic Skinnygirl margarita salt: according to the tabloid's latest issue, via Jezebel, "Justin Theroux cannot stand Jennifer Aniston's new BFF Chelsea Handler; he thinks she is foul-mouthed and a bad influence."

Everyone knows ladies aren't supposed to curse! Or drink copious amounts of vodka! Or make fun of Angelina Jolie in public! Handler should totally take notes on how to be a proper and respectable lady from Katie Holmes, who is exceedingly polite and rarely gives her true opinion on any subject not approved by Tom Cruise.

If Theroux secretly desires a Stepford girlfriend, then Aniston needs to pack up her bags and get the heck out of their quaint Beverly Hills cottage. Then again, many men -- even feminists! -- find Handler obnoxious, more so than women. (Our theory on Handler: She's a girl's girl with potty humor who attracts nice girls with hidden mean streaks. Her best celebrity girlfriends include Reese Witherspoon

  • Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe.... and Charlize Theron?

The latest ad for Dior implies that Theron is the modern day equivalent of these legends, and it uses unnerving CGI recreations of them to do so.

Sure, Theron's gorgeous and we like what they have her wearing here, but the use of these icons seems a bit cheap and unwarranted.

  • Kris Jenner poses with her younger K's: Kendall on the left and Kylie to the right. - Jason LaVeris/FilmMagicKylie Jenner, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner brood, will walk the catwalk for the first time at Avril Lavigne's show at New York Fashion Week. The 13-year-old's big sisters -- Kim, Khloe and Kourtney -- spread the word Wednesday while speaking on a panel for Lucky magazine's "FABB" fashion and beauty blogger conference in New York City. What the shiny-locked siblings didn't mention: that Lavigne, the pop-punk "Complicated" singer from the late '90s/early aughts, just so happens to be the girlfriend of Brody Jenner, son of Bruce Jenner and half-brother of his children with Kris Jenner.

What a tangled web of familial cross-promotion they weave! (The brain, it hurts.)

The presentation for Lavigne's label, Abbey Dawn, goes down on Monday at the Metropolitan Pavilion, and, according to WWD, Kylie is slated to take three turns on the runway.

In sad news: Kylie's 15-year-old aspiring-model sister, Kendall, was forced to decline a $20,000 gig hosting an event at Thursday's

  • Sarah Jessica Parker Drives a Minivan

"Respect the van." - ChinaFotoPress/Getty ImagesSarah Jessica Parker continues to try and convince us all she's just a regular New York City gal who does normal everyday things.

She takes the subway; she grocery shops; and, according to an interview she gave to Katie Couric this week, she apparently drives a minivan.

"I sing along all day long as I'm driving my minivan, dropping the kids off," she told a skeptical Couric.

"You drive a minivan? Seriously?" Couric questioned.

"Yes! Respect the van," Parker said, explaining she actually leased the van from Bronx Honda.

Either she's telling the truth or Parker is so out of touch with normal humans that a "minivan" means something completely different to her (each possibility seems equally likely actually).

  • Though the internet let out a collective swoon a few weeks ago upon watching this video of Ryan Gosling breaking up a fight in the East Village, it turns out the incident makes Gosling himself feel... embarrassed.

MTV News asked Gosling about the scuffle and his response was as sensitive, thoughtful and amusing as one could have hoped for.
