The Famous: Watching the Watched
  • Rihanna looks red-iculous. - Dave Hogan/Getty ImagesHere's Rihanna at Westfield shopping centre in London, looking like early Whitney Houston styled by Christmas. This is because the singer was called upon to help the department store turn on the holiday lights. Is Rihanna perhaps overdosing on "the red"? Yes. But somehow it works.

Let's break it down, shall we?

    1. The hair: Houston, circa "How Will I Know," would approve. Big hair, big bow, big diva.

    2. The outfit: Kinda conservative for the avant-garde Rihanna -- even with the low-cut neutral bustier against the bright red skirt. Has she been influenced by bestie Katy Perry? Rihanna looks very retro-cute, like Perry; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! Consider this a sartorial shout-out for skipping Perry's wedding.

    3. The jewelry: All gold, from the bangles to the earrings to the necklace. The effect classes up what could otherwise look like a clownish costume.

    4. The taupe shoes: We don't like them! But what other shade could she wear? Nothing goes with this look.

  • "On the 6!!!," tweeted Kim. - TwitpicYou may not know it yet, but Kim Kardashian is really just like you. Sure she may have millions of dollars, more shoes than would probably fit in your apartment, and celebrity friends like Kanye and Snooki. But since she's arrived in New York to film her E! reality show with sis Kourtney, Kim has been doing all kinds of things that you can no doubt relate to.

Over the course of her time in the city so far, she has posed for pictures at the top of the Empire State Building, hit up a gay bar, dressed in a Halloween costume that she was probably totally embarrassed about the next day, tripped on a suitcase, and got into a sketchy tussle at a bar. See, you and Kim aren't so different after all.

And now today, she tweeted a glam shot of her and sister Kourtney RIDING THE SUBWAY. With other, average workaday commuters. Sure, you probably don't ride the subway in full makeup and an outfit that looks like Prada meets Catholic School Girl. But you totally do that pointing thing in photos too,

  • Jake Gyllenhaal Sports Pink Silly Band

Direct your attention to his left wrist. - INFdailyThough new details of the Taylor Swift-Jake Gyllenhaal romance seem to be revealed every day, it is certainly easy to be skeptical about the romance between the two "true American sweethearts" (as Heidi Montag recently dubbed them).

For one thing, they both have projects to promote: Gyllenhaal's film "Love and Other Drugs" and Swift's album "Speak Now" (not that she needed any help, considering she sold a million copies during its first week in stores). There's also the nine-year age gap between them. And the fact that the stories about their dates seem like they were written via Mad Libs.

But yesterday brought us perhaps the best evidence so far that Swiftenhaal is real. Jake was photographed leaving an office building in Beverly Hills... wearing a pink Silly Band! Yes, a Silly Band, one of those rubber bracelets formed into a shape that are all the rage among the tween, teen, and, yes, adult, populations.

Does anything scream "Taylor Swift!" quite as much as a pink Silly Band? (No.)

  • Miley smiles as the big 1-8 approaches. - Carlos Alvarez/Getty ImagesMiley Cyrus turns 18 in a few weeks - November 23rd to be exact! Even though she has conquered the pop charts, dated older men and danced on a pole, there is still so much for her to accomplish before she reaches this major milestone.

A bucket list for 18 things the pop star should do before she turns the big 1-8, provided by The Famous:

    1. Not vote.

    2. Not buy cigarettes.

    3. Not listen to Annie Leibovitz on, say, a controversial Vanity Fair photoshoot (until she turns 18).

    4. Not participate in underage drinking (unless she's in Spain.)

    5. Go to a real high school dance. Not a fake one Billy Ray set up to make it appear as if she was not home-schooled by Disney.

    6. Go to Disneyland for fun - not work!

    7. Go wild and teepee someone's house. (Suggestion: La casa de Nick Jonas.)

    8. Reactivate her Twitter account so we can read her "stay strong" shoutouts to fellow Disney star Demi Lovato. What does Cyrus think about Lovato's apparent breakdown? We'll never know!

    9. Stay strong as

  • Oprah and Gayle laugh it off. - Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesWe've all heard this rumor before: Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are in a relationship-relationship.

They've publicly and persuasively denied they are more-than-friends -- yet once the gossip spreads, it's tough to quash it and to separate truth from fiction. People will believe what they want to believe.

So what's the best way to deal with persistent rumors? Laugh them off. Which is exactly what Oprah and her BFF did while camping at Yosemite for an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Retiring to their trailer for the night, King joked: "Let's just add to that lesbian rumor. Come on in, baby!" (See the clip here.)

Are you taking notes, Ryan Seacrest?

  • Kate Mara at the "127 Hours" premiere in Los Angeles. - Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesKate Mara *almost* stole the spotlight from James Franco at last night's "127 Hours" premiere in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old actress, who co-stars alongside Franco in the new Danny Boyle thriller (which practically had people fainting in the aisles), looked inoffensively twee and very, very turquoise on the red carpet. It was spectacular, for several reasons.

    Let's break it down:

    1. The color: Wearing a summery bright on a fall night (OK, a fall night in Hollywood) is unexpected. Just because Mara's sister Rooney is playing Lisbeth Salander does not necessarily mean she has to wear all-black, too. This is a big moment for Mara, whose star profile will certainly get aboost from this latest Franco movie, and she needed to wear a striking shadethat would make her stand out.

    2. The cut: Very 1960s-retro-"Mad Men." The flouncy flared skirt is a refreshing antidote to the Herve Leger banded dresses favored by the Audrina Patridges of the world. It says, "I am tasteful and elegant. Please

  • Who Should Blake Lively Date Next?

Lively at 'The Town' premiere. - Eric Charbonneau/WireImageBlake Lively is in an enviable spot. She's racking up movie roles, landing "Vogue" covers all over the place... and now, after splitting with her long time boyfriend ("Gossip Girl" co-star Penn Badgley), she will almost certainly soon be dating someone very, very famous.

The tabloids are breathlessly waiting for Blake to choose her next boyfriend: after she dined with Leonardo DiCaprio and, uh, six other people at a business dinner at New York restaurant The Lion, almost every gossip columnist -- presumably after taking a Valium or two -- scribed bold-faced "Blake Lively And Leonardo DiCaprio Have Insanely Romantic Dinner!!!" headlines. We can only brace ourselves for the tabloid treatment she'll receive when she actually starts dating someone.

Since Blake is no doubt overwhelmed with all of the choices at her disposal, we've decided to help her out and narrow down the field to five potential men.

    1. Ryan Gosling

Blake was spotted with the "Blue Valentine" actor at Disneyland a few

  • The luckiest superhero in the world. - James Devaney/WireImage

While Tina Fey and Will Ferrell have been popping up all over the place to promote their animated flick "Megamind," their costar -- this up-and-comer named Brad Pitt -- has somehow managed to avoid the brunt of the press tour (we're sure he's totally bummed about missing the "Megamind" Halloween Pageant on "The Today Show").

But Mr. Jolie did make an appearance on the blue carpet last night at the film's New York premiere. Dressed in an all-black ensemble that would certainly  make Angelina proud, Pitt seemed in good spirits, perhaps due to the fact that he brought Maddox and Pax along for the fun.

Asked by a reporter where the Brangelina brood would be celebrating Thanksgiving this year (Jolie is currently filming her directorial debut in Bosnia), Pitt said the family will "whip up a turkey somewhere... we're like a military mobile unit." A beautiful, otherworldly military mobile unit.

  • When word broke that there was a catalyst for Demi Lovato's apparent breakdown, everyone seemed to zero in on "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene. Lovato's fans viciously attacked Greene on Twitter, looking for a scapegoat; media outlets attempted to link Lovato and Greene together in scandal, hoping for a juicy catfight; Greene's spokespeople denied, denied, denied.

Since Greene dates Lovato ex Joe Jonas, who reportedly left Lovato heartbroken after their split, it was easy to imagine how Greene could be the impetus for Lovato quitting her joint world tour with the Jonas brothers and seeking treatment for ongoing "emotional and physical issues." But according to E! Online's Ken Baker, it was a 21-year-old backup dancer named Alex Welch (stage name: B Girl Shorty) on tour with Lovato and the Jonai who was involved in an airplane scuffle with the 18-year-old Disney star. Here are some pictures of Welch, including one in which her left eye appears to be bruised.

  • Katy Perry and Russell Brand at the MTV Movie Awards after party - Charley Gallay/WireImageIn a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, Katy Perry -- who married Russell Brand in an elaborate ceremony in India last month -- said the guy who is best known for his roles in "Get Him To The Greek" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is, uh, on a different spiritual plane from the rest of us.

"I always knew I wanted a great man of God," Perry said. "Someone who was going to be an inspiration for people and also be a lovely husband and father."

Yes, a "great man of God."

She went on to discuss her own complex, double-sided nature.

"I'm a good girl because I really believe in love, integrity, and respect," she said. "I'm a bad girl because I like to tease. I know that I have sex appeal in my deck of cards. But I like to get people thinking. That's what the stories in my music do."

These two... it's like if Moses and Madonna got married, basically.
