  • L.C. leaves the Kardashian sisters in the dust. - Jordan Strauss/WireImageLauren Conrad may have been largely out of the limelight she she left "The Hills" in 2009, but she still wields great influence over the twittering masses.

According to something called the "Ad.ly Consumer Influence Index," Conrad drove the most consumer traffic (out of all celebrities) to advertisers' sites in the pivotal fourth quarter of 2010.

Impressively Conrad -- a New York Times best-selling writer, lest we forget -- was rated more influential than the Kardashian sisters, who came in at #2 (Kim), #3 (Khloe) and #5 (Kourtney).

If would appear that if companies can't get Conrad or a Kardashian sister to tweet their links, they should enter NBA.com in their browsers and see what they can find. Boston Celtic Paul Pierce, Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom (who is also Khloe Kardashian's husband) and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made the top ten, at #6, #9 and #10, respectively.

Perhaps even more surprising than the basketballers' influence is Michael Ian Black's name in the #7 spot.

  • Look, it's Lisbeth! - Michael Buckner/Getty ImagesCall her the Daniel-Day Lewis of rising young starlets: Rooney Mara stays in character, whether or not she's on set.

The actress -- chosen to portray fictional icon Lisbeth Salander in the American movie adaptation of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" -- sported a dramatic Lisbeth-style haircut and bleached, pierced eyebrows at the 2010 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Saturday. Mara, 25, who has a pivotal role as Mark Zuckerberg's ex-girlfriend in "The Social Network," was there celebrating the cast's award for Best Ensemble Performance. She smiled alongside co-star Jesse Eisenberg in her first red-carpet appearance since winning the coveted Lisbeth role.

Mara -- who reportedly beat out Scarlett Johansson for the part -- has been filming "Dragon Tattoo" in Sweden alongside Daniel Craig; although the movie won't hit theaters until December 2011, the fact that Mara is channeling the beloved hacker/hero has elevated her to a whole 'nother level of fame. When the

  • Longoria's wrist ink. - Jason LaVeris/FilmMagicFor what is likely to be the first and last time in her life, Eva Longoria can probably relate to Johnny "Wino Forever" Depp quite a bit these days.

Longoria, who recently separated from husband Tony Parker, has a tattoo on her wrist of the couple's wedding date (07/07/07, written in Roman numerals). Longoria has been covering the tattoo with makeup since their split but recent pictures from TMZ indicate that Longoria may have had the ink professionally removed (though the remnants of the tattoo seem to still be quite visible).

Well, she should at least be thankful she went with something somewhat oblique, as opposed to a Spurs logo or "Me Love Tony" or something.

They'll always have Miami (... actually, not really, considering all they did in Miami was scream at each other). - Troy Rizzo/Getty Images"Jersey Shore" couple Sammi "Sweetheart" and Ronnie -- otherwise known as Sammi Giancola and Ronnie Magro -- has broken up, according to Usmagazine.com.

The duo -- who have done little on the show other than argue, lie in bed, and argue while lying in bed -- are "done," according to a source.

Promotion for the third season (which debuted to massive ratings) has been awkward for the pair, as there is "major tension" between them (though, to be fair, there seems to be "major tension" between them even when they're actually dating). A January 6 "Good Morning America" appearance was said to be especially uncomfortable as the two were "barely speaking to each other."

Ronnie seems to be embracing his singledom, retweeting a flurry of tweets including the hashtag #singleronnie (what better way to let the world know you're back on the market?) and popping up in YouTube videos featuring avowed Sammi enemies JWOWW, Snooki and Deena.

Of course, with the track record these two have, they will no

  • What do you get when you combine a Gothed-Up Fergie, some strange blood-swilling vampire imagery, a Fergie pop song from 2006, and that ole' cherry stem trick from "Twin Peaks"?

Answer: a totally normal and not weird at all commercial for Dr. Pepper Cherry.

  • Last month we reported the bombshell news that Winona Ryder had heard of this thing called "the Internet," and was weirded out by it. The technophobe, who's having a career resurgence thanks to her roles in "Black Swan" and "The Dilemma," explained her fear on last night's "Jimmy Fallon." Sample quote: "The Googling, which is very terrifying to me because I have this fear that I'm going to be trying to find out what movie is playing at what theater and then I'm gonna suddenly be a member of Al-Qaeda."

  • Portman shows off her ring. - Mike Buckner/Getty ImagesSound the alarms! Natalie Portman has flashed the first glimpse of her engagement ring. The "Black Swan" star -- who's expecting a baby with fiance Benjamin Millepied -- showed off her impressive diamond-encrusted sparkler for the cameras at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday. Let's all ooh and ahh.

The style of Portman's ring -- which features a round stone offset by pave diamonds -- has been a favorite among celebrities lately. Hugh Hefner's fiance Crystal Harris has a six-carat round rock that could be worth as much as $750,000. And actress Vivica A. Fox sported a similar-cut diamond within an otherwise blindingly ornate ring from fiance Omar "Slim" White, an Atlanta club promoter. Round is in, unless you are Kate Middleton and thereby forced to accept a giant blue heirloom oval.

  • Aniston with Swift's former paramour. - Jeff Vespa/WireImageThis is one of those items that seems more like a gossip writer's fever dream than anything that likely actually happened in real life, but it's too amusing to overlook.

According to Gatecrasher, Jennifer Aniston approached Taylor Swift at the People's Choice Awards last week to console the 21-year-old country star and encourage her to "hang in there" after her breakup from Jake Gyllenhaal, who starred with Aniston in "The Good Girl" in 2002 (Swift was 13 years old at the time).

Apparently the two had never met before, but Aniston made a point of seeking Swift out inside the Nokia Theatre to let her "know everything will be okay," before telling her to "go out there and have fun."

And then, we imagine, she checked to make sure no one was within earshot, put her lips close to Swift's ear, and whispered, "And whatever you do, sweetheart, you stay away from John Mayer," and then flashed an exaggerated smile before turning on her heel and sashaying away.

  • "Todd was embarrassed." - Kevin Mazur/WireImageWhen rumors surfaced last year that married TV chef Giada De Laurentiis was hooking up with infamous player John Mayer, "Everyday Italian" fans everywhere threw out their pancetta, mascarpone and artisanal gelato in protest. OK, so maybe reaction wasn't that dramatic; De Laurentiis and husband Todd Thompson, however, were humiliated by the tabloid gossip.

"The John Mayer incident was completely unexpected," De Laurentiis tells Redbook magazine. "I was shocked. Andnot so much for me, but for my husband and family. ... Todd wasembarrassed that his family in Michigan would see it and think, 'Whatis going on over there in Hollywood?'"

Last November, Star magazine cited unnamed sources as describing a so-called intimate encounter between the Food Network star and the musician at a hotel in New York. She immediately squashed the report, and so did Mayer's camp.

"I think the only things that could possibly have tied us together is that we were at the same hotel that weekend in question --

  • Shakira and Longtime Boyfriend/Agent Separate

The pair in 2007. - Ethan Miller/Getty ImagesShakira and her boyfriend of 11 years, Antonio de la Rua, have separated. Rua, who is the son of a former president of Argentina, also serves as Shakira's agent, a job he'll apparently keep for the time being despite the "temporary" split.

In a long and formal letter on her website (with the deceptively innocuous title "France 1/10/11"), the pair announced that the separation actually happened in August and that they will "remain friends and business partners."

"We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives... Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done. We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication. Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible."

Shakira has been spotted in recent months with Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique, though
