The Famous: Watching the Watched
  • "Could that be the nastiest man ever alive?" - Jason LaVeris/FilmMagicSay what you will about "Millionaire Matchmaker" Patti Stanger, but she's always spot-on when giving her rich (and emotionally stunted) clients the cold, harsh truth. Esquire put her skills to the test with someone who'd be perfect for her Bravo TV show: Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, whose profile on the online dating site OKCupid was leaked and then deleted; without giving away his identity, the magazine asked Stanger to weigh in on Assange's profile. Here's an excerpt of her assessment:

Assange: "Want a regular, down to earth guy? Keep moving. I am not the droid you're looking for. Save us both while you still can."

Stanger: "This man has been bruised. He's been burned. You know, he's got a little bit of ego and arrogance to him -- I'll give him that. He's going to deter all the good-quality women away -- he's going to attract the diva-drama bitches. ... If he's going to be this negative, he deserves a negative chick."

Assange: "I like women from countries that have sustained

  • Recognize anyone? - Legacy EntertainmentBefore rising to fame as one of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New York City," Bethenny Frankel was a little-known B-movie actress. Moviefone's Andrew Scott has unearthed a rare film from 1994 called "Hollywood Hills 90028" starring a young Frankel. She plays a high school drifter named Laura Drake, whose parents died in a "freak gardening accident," which means what you think it does: Laura is totally psycho. We've not seen the film (it's on DVD), but Scott's synopsis is riveting. And the Frankel screengrabs = priceless.

Frankel's Hollywood aspirations didn't end there. In 1995, she starred in the long-lost comedy "Wish Me Luck," according to IMDB. The plot involved "a genie sent to a junior college to turn a nerd ... into a man." Frankel played an ancillary character named Bridgett.

Alas, dreams are routinely crushed in this biz called show. But when you can't make it in the pictures, there's always a place on reality televison. Enter: "Real Housewives," where Frankel cooked up feuds

  • Oooh la la. - DiorNatalie Portman wears a black headband -- and nothing else -- in her new ad campaign for Miss Dior Cherie. As the brand's new spokes-actress, Portman looks sweet and come-hither, like a coquettish American-pretending-to-be-French girl. And look! We're mesmerized.

Portman's hotness is an internationally known fact. The stuff of legend. The ungettable ideal of beauty for diehard romantic fanboys who watched the "Star Wars" prequels one too many times. So the 29-year-old actress does not have to do much to captivate an audience -- especially now that she's on a professional and personal roll: There's her ferocious turn as a deranged ballerina in "Black Swan," for which she's pretty much ordained to win an Oscar. Then there's her recently announced engagement and pregnancy, for which she's getting the most attention of late. Let the Celebrity Bump Watch commence.

  • Zac Efron Gained 18 Pounds for Latest Role

A long way from "High School Musical." - Jason Merritt/Getty ImagesLike Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellweger before him, Zac Efron was "forced" to pack on a significant amount of weight for a movie role. Yes, the same movie role that required him to chop off his patented long locks.

To play an Iraq War veteran in the recently wrapped "The Lucky One," Efron gained 18 pounds, according to E!'s Marc Malkin, who observes that "from the looks of things, it's practically all muscle."

How did he go about bulking up? The old-fashioned "stuffing your face" technique, basically. "I was just eating, eating and eating," Efron explained. What a tough existence, being a movie star.

  • Tom Hanks’ Son Chet Makes Rapping Debut

While Tom Hanks' son Colin (with ex-wife Samantha Lewes) has achieved a certain level of fame thanks to roles on "Mad Men" and "The Good Guys," Hanks' three other children (one with Lewes, two with current wife Rita Wilson) have kept relatively low profiles. Until now, that is, as Chet Hanks has made his grand promenade into the limelight.

Chet had small roles in the "Bratz" movie and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," but, understanding that the surest route to fame these days is via YouTube, Chet -- a 20-year-old student at Northwestern University -- has released a Northwestern-themed single, "White and Purple," based on the Wiz Khalifa Pittsburgh ode "Black and Yellow."

Chet -- who goes by the rapper name "Chet Haze" -- seems to have grand ambitions for his rap career. The bio on his Facebook page reads: "Born and raised on the West Side of the Westside's main city LA, Chet grew up an enthusiast of the rap game. He is an up and coming MC with a flow that does

  • "I heard Hailee was upset and feel terrible." - Michael Caulfield/WireImage"Glee" star Lea Michele was painted as an evil villain of sorts when a story "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld told J-14 magazine recently -- recounting the time Michele purportedly snubbed her request for an autograph on the Paramount lot -- was widely picked up.

The incident has now attracted enough attention that Michele has issued a statement to clear things up. It turns out that Michele is not to blame for the dis to Steinfeld (a dis which Steinfeld said left her in tears, by the way): it was the "Glee" production assistant's fault!

"I heard Hailee was upset and feel terrible," Michele told Gossip Cop. "The 'Glee' schedule is so jam-packed that the PA probably pulled me so that I wouldn't be late to set. I never meant to hurt her feelings. She's an extraordinary talent and I look forward to meeting her one day."

This explanation actually does make sense; in Steinfeld's original story, she mentioned in her account that a "guy came" and said "Sorry, now's not a good time!" Of

  • Selena Gomez's 3.6 million Twitter followers and 14.2 million Facebook fans were no doubt startled this morning when "Selena" posted an uncharacteristically vitriolic screed against her rumored current boyfriend: "Oh yeh, JUSTIN BIEBER SUCKS!!!!!!!"

No, Gomez wasn't expressing her anger about this recently surfaced picture of Bieber allegedly making out with a fan a few months ago; no, she wasn't overcome with an outburst of jealousy in the wake of the attention he's garnered since his Vanity Fair cover came out; in fact, the explanation is pretty boring: the pristine Disney princess' social media accounts were hacked.

The hacker's posts have since been removed, and Gomez tweeted, "Obviously, my Facebook has been hacked. My twitter has been fixed and everyone is working on Facbook. Love you guys!!!!!" Yes, she's back... bland tweets, minor spelling errors, and all.

  • Michael Doven, Getty Images/Hello! magazineJohn Travolta and wife Kelly Preston show off their newborn son Ben -- full name Benjamin Hunter Kaleo -- on the cover of Hello! magazine. They also brokered a family-photo deal with People in exchange for a cover story.

Gushing over their tiny new arrival, Travolta says: "For us it's been uplifting. Especially when he smiles at me and seems contented in my arms. He's given the house a renewed spirit and purpose."

The 56-year-old actor held Preston's hand while she was in labor; meanwhile, their 10-year-old daughter Ella eagerly waited outside the room alongside family friend Kirstie Alley. Kirstie Alley?! We're surprised Travolta enthusiast Oprah wasn't there too, given her tight bond with the star. Then again, Alley is a committed Scientologist.

  • She's glowing. - Dimitrios Kambouris/WireImageKate Hudson is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, musician Matthew Bellamy. A source tells People that the 31-year-old actress "couldn't be more excited." Hudson has been dating the 32-year-old Brit -- frontman of the rock band Muse -- for the past nine months. This will be the second child for the actress, who's mom to 7-year-old son, Ryder, from her marriage to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson.

Hudson's rep was not immediately available for comment.

This is the latest evidence of an A-list celebrity baby boom. Earlier this week, Hudson's ex Owen Wilson announced he's expecting a child with girlfriend Jade Buell any day now; and, of course, there's Natalie Portman, who broken millions of fanboys' hearts when she revealed her pregnancy last month.

  • Kardash-ling. - Zoey GrossmanWhile sisters Kourtney and Khloe are easy on the eyes, Kim Kardashian is absurdly known as "the pretty one" in a universally beautiful family -- but she's got younger competition. Her 15-year-old sibling Kendall Jenner, daughter of Kardashian matriarch Kris and second husband Bruce Jenner, has an eye toward becoming a supermodel.

Case in point: Kendall's the new face of the fashion label MARCC, E! Online reports. In the campaign for the line's spring/summer collection, the Kardash-ling models a kitschy array of T-shirts, shorts and accessories. (See more photos here.)

"I've worked with a lot of models so working with Kendall was a breeze," Marc Clark, the designer, tells E! "She knows how to move, she knows her angles, and she photographs really well. we had a blast on set."

Despite the somewhat unsettling Lolita vibe, the coquettish photos are fairly tame compared with Kendall's past bikini photoshoot. In the land of teen supermodels-in-training, it helps to start young (like Brooke
